As far as I know you can use the commodore monitor cable. Best results for a standard 600XL is the composite video cable. If you do some searches at AtariAge you will find a lot of topics about connecting a XL computer to a LCD TV or LCD monitor.

Almost every Atari 8-bit cartridge can be used on the 600XL except the cartridges larger than 16k. In this topic: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/136057-xegs-cart-compatiblity-list/you can find a list of cartridges which will probably don't work.

If you are looking for cartridges take also a look at webshops from Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. You will find a better choice and lower prices than on Ebay.

In this topic: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/210745-cartridge-list-for-the-atari-8-bit-computers-400800xlxe-computers/you can find an excel sheet of all known production cartridges (made by user atari8bitcarts). If you choose the tab "known prod cartridges - atari" you will see a list of cartridges made by Atari themselves. You can use every cartridge except for the ones marked in blue.

Good luck!
