mark #1 Posted April 14, 2003 What games did you own when the 2600 came out? You know when games were commanding $20+ dollars in stores? Do you still own those games?
sku_u #2 Posted April 14, 2003 Off the top of my head: Night Driver Combat Circus Atari Surround Bowling Air Sea Battle Breakout Space war My mind's a little fuzzy as that was nearly 26 years ago, but I'm pretty sure that those were the first titles I owned. Some may have come to me later than 1977-78.

Godzilla #5 Posted April 14, 2003 I still own almost all my original 2600 games. I traded off a complete kid vid and super cobra and maybe one other back in the day, but i also replaced them back in the day (except for the kid vid, i didnt want to replace cause i didnt like the gameplay,). The list would be too large, probably at least 100 games.
+Nathan Strum #6 Posted April 15, 2003 The first games I bought for my 2600 were: Tank Plus (Combat) Target Fun (Air-Sea Battle) Missile Command Asteroids Laser Blast Space Invaders Actually, all of my games were bought new, and I still have them all. I paid upwards of $40 for some games, like Gyruss, although I picked up a bunch of cheap ones after the crash, too. I haven't purchased any since Midnight Magic and Solaris came out, which I think were the last two I bought. My complete list is here.
gulag picture radio #7 Posted April 15, 2003 When I got mine, it was in a local contest. It was right around when Atari was bundling Pac-Man in with the system (I even phoned them after I won the unit asking if they could possibly send me Pac-Man since I only had Combat... they did!). At that point a lot of games were sub $10. Sucky games, of course, but the only ones that I could swing. I think that around that time the national chain store Zayre had a lot of older titles for quite cheap - some were even down to .88. The first ten games I had were Combat, Pac-Man, Riddle of the Sphinx, Airlock, Video Pinball, Video Olympics, Warlords, Astrosmash, Star Raiders (got that one for .88) probably a few more. I had them in their original boxes, and my whole collection fit into a shoebox. Man, that was a while ago. Of course frequent borrowing helped extend one's collection, and a friend of mine just gave me all his old games in '88 when we were in high school. That was pretty cool. I'd pick 'em up when I saw 'em in thrifts, so you could say that I never actually stopped playing Atari - I still have those original games (though I got rid of the boxes years ago - probably for the better).
