George Gray #1 Posted April 15, 2003 I thought I found a handheld NES. Well, turns out to be a no name hand held 'game pad' with 10 built in games. It looks similar to a generic game pad along the lines of the Activision 10 in 1 unit. This one has a slightly better feel but...well, lets just say I'm glad I did'nt pay real money for this thing (I paid $9.99 at CVS.) The games appear to be a mixture of arcade clones and original fare. The graphics are on par with the NES or even the Sega Master System. In fact, the games look and sound like NES games. Among the games are Submarine, 'Get Em' which is similar to Atlantis, Raceway, Boxing, Highway (like freeway), Hungry Worm (like that Tron light cycles game but much worse), Pong, Balloon pop (oddly addictive), Snow Boarding and Drop Em. The last game looks like it was intended for toddlers: you must drop rocks on mice to keep them from filling in holes on the screen. The games are simple in play, a few are fun, and are suitable for most ages (although the older you are, the less you'll want to play with them.) If you are looking for simple, quick games to pass time on a road trip (for your kids, of course) this could be a decent little find.
King Atari #2 Posted April 15, 2003 Hmm, I'm gonna take a trip down to CVS and look for one of those things. I actually emailed Nintendo suggesting they put 10 games in an original NES controller. How cool would that be?
George Gray #3 Posted April 15, 2003 Hmm, I'm gonna take a trip down to CVS and look for one of those things. I actually emailed Nintendo suggesting they put 10 games in an original NES controller. How cool would that be? Yeah, that would be cool. Unfortunately, as long as they are rehashing the old games for the GBA, I doubt we'll see an all in one unit. I think I posted this before, but Jakks Pacific (maker of the Atari 10 in 1 and the Activision 10 in 1) is coming out with a Namco 10 in 1. Same concept, 10 Namco classics in one hand held package. Among the 10 are Pac Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Rally X and New Rally. Supposed to have been introduced at a toy faire in Feb and hit the market sometime in the third quarter. They are also introducing an Electronic Arts line with some of the 'sim' games (Sim Town, Sim Park, Sim Farm, Sim Ant) and SSX Tricky among others. Even though the quality of these things is less than stellar and the translations not 100% accurate, I rather like them. No CD's or cartridges to worry about. Portability and decent pricing make them ideal for travel, kids and people like me. That Atari joystick is very cool looking. I wonder when the Channel F version is coming out... King Atari #4 Posted April 15, 2003 Yeah, that would be cool. Unfortunately, as long as they are rehashing the old games for the GBA, I doubt we'll see an all in one unit. Yeah, I figured that. Hopefully we'll see a best of compilation on the GBA.
Scooterb23 #5 Posted April 15, 2003 I'm really starting to dig these 10-1 and 76,000-1 units...I think I've found a new subsection to my collection to focus on for a while...
George Gray #6 Posted April 15, 2003 I'm really starting to dig these 10-1 and 76,000-1 units...I think I've found a new subsection to my collection to focus on for a while... WOW! 76,000 in 1! I gotta have THAT one...where, where?
Scooterb23 #7 Posted April 16, 2003 of course, 75,999 of those are versions of Super Mario Bros. But hey...they are oddities that I'm interested in.... Of course, the flea markets around here sell the things at $70!!!!! Still like to find one sometime...
King Atari #8 Posted April 16, 2003 Really? Up here in Northeast Ohio I don't even see those things.
zanic #9 Posted April 16, 2003 I found one of the 76,000 in one games. Got it for $40 at a electronics type expo. The games are held on the N64 type controller and the Sega Genesis style one plugs into it for player 2. It's pretty cool, but only really has about 75 games on it. After that the list of games on the screen randomly repeats. Since it only displays 20 games on the screen at a time I haven't been all the way to the end (only go to around 20,000), but I assume it repeats the whole way through. Mine has as highlights Super Mario Bros. Duck Hunt (Gun in picture really works) and 1942. Also of note are the Star Wars Episode 1 pics gracing the box :-)

MegaManFan #11 Posted April 16, 2003 Is there really a Namco one coming out!!!???!!! I don't doubt it. They're milking the Pac-Man franchise for every single dollar they can.
King Atari #12 Posted April 16, 2003 I'd LOVE to get one of those N64 controller systems.
chrisbid #13 Posted April 16, 2003 i have a hack system similar to the one pictured, but it only has 144 games on it. It does have the cool gun, that is lighter and more repsonsive than any older game gun (although it does look a tad too real) ive ever played.
GrizzLee #14 Posted April 17, 2003 If there is interest, I can get a few of these Power Play NES units for $30. They contain 10 built-in games plus a bonus game for a total of 11 games. The games themselves are altered versions of popular NES games, e.g., Galaga, Space Invaders, Road Fighter, F1-Race, Arkanoid, etc... They come in a Dreamcast style controller with A/V outs. Send me a PM if you are interested. Take care, -Lee
King Atari #15 Posted April 17, 2003 If I had the money to spare, I'd PM you right now . Funny, I never see any of that stuff around here. Only the Atari joystick and Activision controller.
