Keatah #2 Posted November 10, 2015 I loved Zmodem. To a kid it was a very sophisticated protocol. Unfortunately I didn't get to use it much with the Apple II because it wasn't supported till sometime between 1986-1988. At which time my BBS and APPLE II activities were beginning to wind down. I used Com-Ware and Ascii Express until Pro-Term came out. Got version 2.01 of that, and then, soon enough 2.1. And 2.1 had Zmodem!
+OLD CS1 #3 Posted November 12, 2015 Novaterm on the Commodore 64 supports YModem and eventually ZModem. DESterm 128 (IIRC) supports ZModem (have not used it in a LONG time,) and JRComm on the Amiga. I remember setting up tons of downloads and going to bed. Thanks to ZModem (and sometimes YModem batch) I could let the computer run over night and download everything I wanted, be it across 2400, 14.4k, or 33.6k. Definitely enriched my telecommunications and BBS life.
MarkO #4 Posted November 12, 2015 In the Apple ][e BBSing days, it was X-Modem and X-modem-1K, then with the IBM PC, Ymodem, and Kermit, and then Oman Technologies Zmodem.. Ah, the Joy of Dial Up,even before the Internet Dial Up... All those people complaining about 33.6Kbps never lived with 300bps..... MarkO

nanochess #6 Posted November 12, 2015 Great guy, it was almost magic when he published all required documentation for Z-Modem for implementing it.
