Scramble - 2600

Recommended Posts

There is an extra space before the comma in the 2nd line.

Extra spaces are many: all of them serves to fill the text and somewhat align it to L/R "square" borders.

But, yes, this one is more noticeable than the others  and that's because because it's near the comma... I'll sure fix it, maybe when all the other languages are translated correctly... ;)

Is there not an automatic "just fit" option? I used to use it in MS Word. Sometimes I've seen it fail however in magazines and newsprint with skinny columbs, when a really big word doesn't quite fit at the end of the line, and as a result it is moved to the next line in it's entirety, all the words in the line look like they have quadruple spacing.

Cool you guys are doing multilingual boxarts for the PAL releases. I can only read/speak English. :P

I work with an OLD (!!!) Ulead Photo Express which I use since I had Win98 :woozy: .

So, no PhotoSchlop for me... maybe it has the "fit" option, but Ulead does not :_( , then I have to do it manually (it's not a great fadigue ! Otherwise I'd get immediately pissed off ;) )

Multilingual is only for an European box... just want to "maintain" the same Atari format ;-) !

It would be interesting to see how much of the ARM version would have to be stripped out to get it to work on an early 80's era cart.

Depressing, but interesting. ;)

Star Castle Arcade does a lot, and that does not use ARM -- just a different bankswitch format.

That was deemed not possible.

Now we have examples of what is possible at 8K and at 32K.

The less powerdul "without ARM use" would hopefully keep excellent gameplay, sacrificing fine player / enemy movement, graphics...

Are you using an old version of Stella? Scramble uses DPC+ bankswitching with custom ARM code. DPC+ was added in version 3.1 of Stella, ARM support in 3.4, and numerous updates & bug fixes to DPC+ and ARM support were done in versions after that.

Unfortunately afaik, Stella ports to Wii-brew, Xbox, Retro Pie, Android, and other implementations on embedded systems (pretty much anything that's not x86 Win/Mac/Linux PC build) are using an outdated codebase and are unlikely to work.

Well, they'll just have to buy the cart then. ;)

I plan on buying it immediately whenever Albert releases it. Currently it's been a drip feed of Intelli, Coleco, and Jag games.

I was referring to using emulators on something other than a PC with DPC+ games. And yes, I have a Harmony cart as my preferred method of accessing homebrew ROMs.

I have a hard proof of the Scramble manual. It is beautiful. Dave Dries did a stupendous job with it. :)

There's more, of course, but that's all for now. :D

FYI, Scramble is already out for the NES, and it was based off the Atari port. I've played it, and it's fantastic:

Anyway it's an instant buy for me when the Atari port drops. I think it's more impressive to see it running on VCS 8)

Many thanks to Dave Dries for creating this video. :)

I can't wait! I and a friend are each in for a copy. I'd also love to play a version that looks exactly like the first 10 seconds of that awesome promo video but is still a side scroller like the original.

Wow, this has got to be the most epic commercial I've ever seen for a homebrew. :o

The animation would fit right in with vintage 80s ads (minus the horrid 240p web compression and VHS artifacts of most vintage promotional material available online)

And all you needed was a deep-voiced DJ announcer going "Now you can play the arcade hit at home!... From AtariAge!!!" :D
