LCD Handheld Batteries

Recommended Posts

I found this little Game and Watch type game (Gakken Runaway aka Searchlight) a few months ago, and finally got batteries for it (2x A76s). When one is not playing the game, it shows the time, and the game goes into demo mode. My question is: How long will the batteries last if I keep it on the clock/demo mode? Should I take the batteries out when I'm not playing it?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these types of games.

Bah...the power use for just the clock alone should be very minimal. Consider how often you need to change a battery in a wristwatch, for example...and a double-A battery is a heck of a lot bigger than a button. My guess...not so often that you would notice it.

I'd say take 'em out. Goofy batteries like that can be a bitch to find, and are often rather expensive (Stupid Dreamcast VMU...), so there's no point in wasting them while you're not playing.

There's also always a chance of them leaking inside the system. I've had Duracells leak in TWO different machines (luckily, there was no damage since I removed them quickly), and I swear I will never again buy batteries from that damn company.

Unless of course you play it REALLY often, to the point where it's a pain in the butt to keep moving them around... but I doubt that'll be the case.
