Where does Major Havoc fit in the history of scrolling platformers?

Any thoughts on Major Havoc's (1983) place in the history of scrolling platform games?

 

Jump Bug (1981) is cited as the first horizontally and vertically scrolling platform game. However, Major Havoc seems to contain a large number of features that would show up in later platformers (switches that can be thrown, keys for doors, trap panels, in-air position adjustments, multiple ways to get to your destination, shields, etc,,,),
