HawkMines #1 Posted December 3, 2015 I just recently got a Colecovision and I only have 1st party games, (and Moonsweeper Color variant!) so I figured that the best place to learn what the best 3rd party games are is to ask the experts. Also, are their any companies that I should outright avoid?
Nutsy Doodleheimer #2 Posted December 3, 2015 Parker Bros. games are some of the best on the Colecovision. Frogger, Frogger 2 Threedeep, Gyruss, Montezuma's Revenge, Popeye, Q*Bert, Star Wars The Arcade Game, Super Cobra, and Tutankam. That is your best bet. Only a few by Activision were made like H.E.R.O., River Raid, Pitfall, and Pitfall 2. And a couple from Imagic. Epyx and Atarisoft had a few as well. TPR #3 Posted December 3, 2015 Here's my favorite 3rd party games: - BC's Quest for Tires - Centipede - Defender - Frogger - Galaxian - Gyruss - HERO - Jumpman Jr - Jungle Hunt - Keystone Kapers - Miner 2049er - Montezuma's Revenge - Oil's Well - Pitfall II - Popeye - Q*Bert - River Raid
+digress #4 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm not sure if people consider these 3rd party or not but SPY HUNTER FRENZY These are games that you can replay forever.
Pixelboy #5 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm not sure if people consider these 3rd party or not but SPY HUNTER FRENZY These are games that you can replay forever. Those were released through Coleco, so they should be considered first-party titles. But yeah, I agree those games are great.
+opcode #6 Posted December 3, 2015 Atari and Parker are my favorites. Atari would be the best far had they released all the unreleased prototypes and other announced but never released games. From a technical point of view, they were the best 3rd party, which is kind of ironic.
Kamshaft #7 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Activision and Atarisoft to me had the best releases overall. Pound for pound. Parker Brothers was hit and miss, but good for the most part. It's whoever got the arcade exclusives first really. Edited December 3, 2015 by Kamshaft
HawkMines #8 Posted December 3, 2015 It looks like the Parker Brothers and Atari games are the most liked from what I see so far. Hopefully my new Centipede doesn't get lost in transit! Sadly, all the Activision and Imagic games for the Coleco are EXPENSIVE! Now my next question would have to be: How much would a Parker Brothers game without a label, that is unknown what game it is, be worth?
mumbai #9 Posted December 3, 2015 How much would a Parker Brothers game without a label, that is unknown what game it is, be worth? $1. It is most likely either Q*Bert or Popeye.
HawkMines #10 Posted December 3, 2015 $1. It is most likely either Q*Bert or Popeye. Well, that was fast.
mumbai #11 Posted December 3, 2015 Well, that was fast. The wonders of the modern age and all...
HawkMines #12 Posted December 3, 2015 The wonders of the modern age and all... Yet, nobody has answered my second question, "Are their any companies that I should outright avoid?"
Kamshaft #13 Posted December 3, 2015 Unless you're a big fan is educational games, I'd stay away from those.
mumbai #14 Posted December 3, 2015 Yet, nobody has answered my second question, "Are their any companies that I should outright avoid?" Probably the Spinnaker and Fisher-Price releases, but that has less to do with the software quality than the audiences they targeted. For general market games, XonoX would probably be my pick for least favored third party producer.
mumbai #15 Posted December 3, 2015 Unless you're a big fan is educational games, I'd stay away from those. You either dropped some of your reply or were peeking into my reply-in-progress ... or looking directly into my mind, perhaps.

HawkMines #17 Posted December 3, 2015 Sadly, all the Imagic games for the Coleco are EXPENSIVE! Edit: just saw mumbai's FS thread. I will be looking for Nova Blast and Wing War.

youki #19 Posted December 4, 2015 One of my favorites Third Party ( with Atarisoft and activitson) are game done by Nice Idea (ex Mattel electronics) , unfortunately lot of their title had never been released. But just look at Burger time for instance.
HawkMines #20 Posted December 4, 2015 I'm looking for released games though, and I don't think they released any in the US.
