Pitfall II. I don't think that I've ever managed to finish that one. I always end up shutting off my consol in sheer frustration!

Firefly makes me want to break the volume switch on my Atari. I don't find any games frustrating, though.

Beating it is easy, getting the perfect score is hard. My quest continues.

I finished it once. I became completely obsessed with it one day shortly after I got it and I played until I finished.

Now I have no patience for it.

I finish Pitfall 2 every time I play it. I have only achieved the perfect score once, though.

Rescue Terra I, I can only get through the first couple of waves after a couple of hours into it.

I still like the game very much.

It's funny, I love Pitfall 2, but it too is the game that most made me want to break my atari, in all my years, but not because of the game itself. I had just gotten the game, and spent a very long amount of time getting very far, and I found a safe spot to let harry rest, while I went and did other things, like eat etc. When I got back my mom had turned off the system 'we dont want it overheating, now!' man I was pissed. Threw a controller across the room and shattered it, and almost did the same with my pitfall 2 and 2600.

two games do it for me...and funny enough..they are totally related to each other:

Star Raiders (Because the whole touchpad thing slows me down game wise and the base is near impossible to save)

Solaris (because I always manage to usually get within a system or two of Solaris itself...to only get owned by the damn Cobras you have to get past and I never did well on reverse controls in the red zones.

Why did they have to make Solaris exist in a freaking Red Zone!!!

Not really break my Atari but almost break my joysticks... Amidar! I love the game (love Painter on the ST more) but movement is so sloooow I find myself putting more and more pressure on the stick (without meaning to) in an effort to speed myself up to avoid the nasties.

I had the same problem with Amidar... waaaayy slow, drove me nuts.

Anybody remember kidgrid (I think that is the name) for the atari home computers? pretty cool amidar clone.

As for pitfall 2. I remember back in highschool, I borrowed it from someone over the weekend. I came very close to finishing it with a perfect score. They didn't believe me when I told them I could probably do it if I had more time.

Ahhh well..

Ok, I may be in the minority here, but Jr. Pac-Man gives me fits. I can't even consistently clear the first maze! :x Yet I still keep coming back for more punishment. Go figure.

 I think my Mom did that once too!

Games that frustrate me:

Save The Whales LOL!

The Swordquest series

Raiders of the Lost Ark: trying to float by parachute into the cave is hard enough but then you gotta find the right place to dig!

GhostBusters: AARGH!

Maybe it's time for an Amidar double speed hack? ;)

The attached zip-file contains two versions of Amidar DS:

#1 is harder, because the enemies are still faster than the player (like in the original). #2 is a bit easier, because both have about the same speed.

Still both versions are quite hard. And fast :!:

Thank you very, very much Thomas. I just downloaded your file but haven't had a chance to check it out. But I can't wait to try it out.

Thanks again!

Two words:

Cosmic Ark

:x :x :x

I can't believe no one mentioned this one yet. What got me so mad that I slapped the cartridge out of the console on several occasions was the asteroid section. Time and again I would shoot the asteroids well before they hit my ship, but it was like the bullets went right through them!! I have reacquired this game since I started collecting three years ago, but I haven't played it again other than to test it.

As for Pitfall II, it is tricky, but I 've gotten a perfect score on several occasions and have never thought it was that hard. :ponder:

Cosmic Ark

I hate getting zapped when carring an animal to the mothership. :x I hear that "blip" spaceship explosion noise and swear like Sam Kinison.

I've also quickly given up on every seriously playing anything from the SwordQuest series

I had an identical experience. I was SO GODDAMN PISSED!

I don't think I've ever played it for any length of time since that day. I pretty much avoid playing it on the Activision Anthology PS2 disc.

Raiders of the Lost Ark.

1) When I was younger, I'd remember waiting in the map room for 10 minutes for the sun to come up (leaving the room for a snack). Then, once the sun did come up, I'd forget which controller was which, and fall into the valley of the poison, either because I wasn't using the key when moving or becuase I'd use the correct controller, moving it a hair in the up or down direction.

2) That danged hole with with the branch over it; that's a nightmare to get past.

3) Once in the ark's mesa, getting the schovel stolen by a thief!! aah!!!

4) Once digging for the ark, getting the controllers messed up, and pressing the "drop item" button instead of the "dig" button.

gaaah!!!!
