NES emulation with original gamepad

Recommended Posts

I had been playing my NES emulator on my laptop using a Playstation style controller from Radio Shack which I have had for a few years and also play Stella with but decided games like SMB really really need to original pad or they just feel all wrong so I looked around and found some USB NES style controllers and decided to go down to the local game store and pick one up since they were cheap enough.

I picked up one of the USB controllers and noticed they also carried a Tomee NES to USB cable and decided to go with that instead of the new USB controller. I brought it home got it set up and plugged one of my old NES gamepads in and it works like a charm. I believe I made the right choice because a 27 year old Nintendo controller is surely a better made controller than a new NES style gamepad made in China.

Anyone else use the adaptor or had any experience with the new controllers?

the generic USB controllers they sell on fleabay and whatnot seem to be an accurate representation of the original NES controller, but whatever you like

I love the old dogbone plugged into a Wii Gamecube controller port. Best $10 I ever spent for an adapter on eBay.

I use a radioshack playstation to USB adapter. Nicer than the generic gamepad pros but obviously lacks the authenticity of an SNES or NES controller.
