AtariNerd
I'd be interested in an XL version, just so a non-solder-monkey like myself has a chance of modding an Atari for something like this. With this and the upcoming video mod, an 800XL might be in my future.
danwinslow
What about the XL version makes it a non-solder install? I'm like you, I need to avoid soldering installs at all costs.
AtariNerd
Well, from what was mentioned, the XL version has an adapter, that I think, provided your XL is socketed, would mitigate most, if not all of the soldering needed? (Might be a few leads that might need to be attached?)

mjsaville
Put me down for: 1 x XE Rapidus Any idea of costs?? cheers MJ
kenjennings
How much? (and how much to ship to Florida USA) Does "XL" include 1200XL? I'd probably get one for an 800XL. Potentially one more if it does work in a 1200XL.
Defender II
Are these available yet? Looking forward to one of each XE & XL.
+DrVenkman
I don't think it's quite ready for mass consumption yet - if so, Lotharek will undoubtedly sell it through his site like the rest of his products, rather than an ad hoc list of random folks finding an AA thread and adding names. http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=107
Pmetzen
I'll take one for my Atari 800 XL with Adapter
Panther
It doesn't look like the question has been answered yet of whether this will fit in a 130XE with a VBXE. If it does, then I'm going for one!
danwinslow
This is not an 'interest thread'. Nobody, as far as I know, is watching this in terms of reserving copies or planning production.
+Larry
True, and IIRC, when Lotharek originally did some type of an "interest thread," he indicated that he had planned on parts for 200 or so pieces? (Original response here was tepid, IMO for such a potential game changer.) -Larry
danwinslow
I'm sure he knows that the interest is high and will remain so.

vazquezrick
The price is bit high. That doesn't mean I wont order one. Besides speeding up the computer for games and such what else can we do with the new board.

+Larry
Hopefully, several of you "early adopters" will have plenty of mods in your Atari stable, and can tell us what works and what doesn't. (What is the old saying about "pioneers?") For instance, Rapidus is said to be compatible with the Ultimate 1 MB, but IIRC, that is only at 1.79 MHz. (?) Some things (hardware) may work fine at 1.79 but not at higher clocks. Some may not work at all. Hopefully the non-working category will be small, and perhaps some of those can be finessed later on. Anyway, I suspect that this will be akin to the Ultimate -- we will definitely need user docs/experiences shared here at AA. Obviously, Simius' 65816 + 4 MB + 8 OS upgrade projected at less than 1/2 the price will make a tempting alternative. From my experiences, the 65816 + linear ram is the more important part of this. 8 OS -- that is just (great) gravy! In the long-run, Rapidus higher clock speed may prove more useful, especially if there are some "killer apps" written that need the speed. Right now -- not so much (IMO). WWLD? -- well, I'll probably end up with both. -Larry
