Any thoughts to this Thorn Emi cart?

Recommended Posts

I havent seen any regular release Thorn Emi carts with Eprom boards and chips installed in the case. The only other one Ive seen like it is a Not For Resale cart of Computer War I got a few years ago. The front label of my Orc Attack doesnt say anything like that. Any thoughts to this cart? Where they known for recycling Eprom chips and boards like this for regular release?

I have many Thorn EMI carts. Computer War was my first. I bought it for like $2.99 when the toy stores in the mall were dumping all their 8-bit stuff. I have Soccer and some others. I also have several puzzle games on cassette made by Thorn. I picked most of those up back in the day when everything was going cheap. I never get rid of anything. Overall, they did a good job. Computer War was based on the movie War Games where a computer becomes self aware after a bored kid hacks into the NORAD wargaming computer, W.O.M.P.R. The movie starred Mathew Broderick. It was a typical 80s era flick, pretty entertaining. Anyway, the game follows the same scenario. The object is to protect targeted cities and shoot down the missiles. Not unlike Missile Command, but with some pretty great sound effects and multiple screens. The warning sounds, get annoying at times. The missiles are not that easy to shoot down either, and it gets frantic after several rounds. Great games from Thorn.
