+therealbountybob
Fix Wanted! There is a bug in Whirlinurd - it often crashes between levels with a corrupt display (at least once per session). Reset returns to the title screen. I have this on original tape and I think it had the same issue

jvas
It never crashed for me. Played a lot back in the day.
spookt
Hmm me either. I had the UK release by US Gold and played it a lot. Don't remember it ever crashing. I've played it in emulation too over the years. TRBB: what version are you playing? I could give it a run out on my Incognito 800.
olavese@online.no
Try the one on my page ... I am fairly sure it was working when I was young (Not tested on emulator) http://pokeysoft.no/games/atari/a8arc.htm Search for 079a
McKong
I saw some of these crashes whilst playing recently. Definitely saw it happen on my 800xl, pretty sure I also saw it in altirra. Couldn't say what settings I was running under in altirra though. I've been using the version on Fandals' site
Xuel
Using the CAS on Atarimania, I saw the crash once in Altirra but could not reproduce it again. The problem appears to be a broken display list which causes the VBI to fire during an NMI. This prevents stage 2 VBI from occurring so the STRIG shadow register never gets updated. I was able to advance to the next level by launching the debugger and typing "e strig 0", F8, F8, "e strig 1", F8. This simulates the pressing and releasing of the joystick button. But that's just a bandaid to whatever is causing the broken display list in the first place.
