Black DreamCcast vs. White DreamCast

Okay, I have the black one... it is the sports version. Are that a lot more rare than the white ones? All I see in the used section at GameStop is white ones... I have never seen another black one!

I've got 3 black ones, 2 white ones. The black ones are a little harder to find as they were released later and I think that most people who were interested in the DCast probably already had one.

I have a black one with the sports controller....they are far more rare than the regular DC...but they don't command a much higher price yet...time will tell....DC is getting a good cult following now...I have seen more people picking up DC's and saying they were looing for them recently than I ever have...and with the price for a complete system down to around $30 if you look for one...why not? I'd much rather have the black one, just looks 2 cool!

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the black DC is a later revision of the hardware and can't play CDs & CD-Rs. This may be the reason the demand is not greater. Without being able to play CDs, you can't play homebrews (or bootlegs).

Well, that's an interesting bit of news.

 

I was always told that later models didn't work (and obviously I wasn't the only one to think so or the list wouldn't exist).

 

It was never really an issue for me, as my DC is an original run Japanese model.

I have a white US DC with a blue LED and the blue Euro DC logo's on the unit and controller!

 

I wanted to get a black DC originally, because it fits in with the rest of my black/dark grey consoles, but I was thoroughly turned off because of the, IMHO, quite lame "Sega Sports" logos on them...

It may work fine, as do all of ours, but that's not the point. Some people like to have something unique and special compared to the same old thing owned by the masses. We are stylish people who like to have stylish things. We want to be individuals and own unique things that reflect our individuality. IMHO, my DC looks a heck of a lot better than the regualar "stock" ones, and I can say I have something unique and show others. How many others have a white DC with logos that aren't even available in the U.S. and a Blue LED, which are just much cooler looking than the standard green/red/orange LED's that are on EVERYTHING? My DC is still a bit more conservative than other's I've seen, it does look just like European ones, except for the blue LED, but it's still rare and unique looking in the U.S. If your happy with commons things, then congratulations, you've own a common thing.

Not much more to read into it - don't make it something that it's not - it's really a simple thing...just like buying a car or a shirt or whatever...for some reason you will see one that you like better than another one of the same quality...if two are sitting beside each other and they are exact except for color...same production numbers and features...exact except for color...I'd take the black one...I just think it looks better...lol.

 

 

But that's just me...I wouldn't knock someone else because they like the regular one better...they are all still the same damn machine in a nutshell.

Next time your on Ebay search for a R7 model. It comes with all kinds of accessories and nobody knows what they are. Pretty pricey too. Guess I'll have to stick with my white one.

I like the way my black Dreamcast looks better than my white Dreamcast. It looks better with my Saturn, PS2, and Xbox. By the way from what I understand all black Dreamcast will play backups - I mean emulators.

All Dreamcast games can play non-encrypted CDs.

 

I've got two Dreamcasts myself. One regular white one, which I enjoy the looks of, and one clear-shelled, special case one that I made specially for the June 7th release of...

I don't have a dreamcast but if I did I'd have the one that CPUWIZ posted because that looks really cool. Blue LED? I thought you moved onto violet ones.
