Sky7 #1 Posted January 6, 2016 Need to confirm if the AtariMax MyIDE II will work on an original Atari 800? Their site makes reference to the 800XL. Is there any reason the cart will not work with the original Atari 800?
BillC #2 Posted January 6, 2016 According to a thread I found on the AtariMax forum ROM images and XEX files should work on the 800, but ATRs require 64K. http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1777&hilit=800 The cartridge door would probably need to be open and the safety switch bypassed as well. mr-atari #3 Posted January 7, 2016 No, MyIDE-][ won't work on 400/800 computers. Bus-signals are different from XL/XE, so the hardware does not respond. Cheers, Sijmen.

It looks like I miss read the thread, it was about Atarimax flash cartridges rather than MyIDE-II.
Sky7 #5 Posted January 7, 2016 Checking out the previous threads, I think I understand that the AtariMax flash cart will need to be used with an Atari 400/800 and the MyIDE II cart is for 800XL. Just want to make sure I order the correct cart for what I have.

Just want to make sure I order the correct cart for what I have. The Atarimax flash cartridge doesn't need a 400/800, it works on all 8-bit Atari computers but ATR files on the cartridge require an XL/XE(minimum 64K). Marius #7 Posted January 15, 2016 There is quite an easy fix on the cartridge port (you have to open the atari 400/800 to do this) so you can use your MyIDE ][ cart on Atari 400/800. But BEWARE: 1) The FAT32 loader from Tucker does not want to run on OS A and OS B. (I think it should be able to run) 2) MyBIOS needs XL/XE architecture/64K to run. Even when you install Incognito and you can use XL/XE OS, you will have to do the modification on the CART port.
