+pboland #1 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) This has been a long time coming. I'm am now able to make Super Action Controller overlays. I've put a lot of time/money into this project. The trick was to get totally repeatable results. I'm finally at that point. From what I can tell there are a total of six original Super Action Controller overlays: • Baseball • Football • Front Line • Rocky • Spy Hunter • Star Trek I had two original SA Baseball overlays in really good condition to get the sizing from. Once I had those scanned in, I was able to make very accurate cut masks in CAD. These reproduction overlays are not just some copy and paste images from the inter webs. I have redrawn all six of these overlays. I also made some very minor adjustments (mainly in color and text placement). I'm not 100% ready to take orders on these, so right now I just want to get an interest gauge from everyone in the ColecoVision community. I'll post pricing in the next day or so. Let me know what you guys think. Edited January 17, 2016 by pboland

ColecoNoob #3 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Wow. Nice work. Would be interesting if there would be an option to order a "single" series for those with only one SAC. And the pricing would be interesting too of course. P.s.: there should be a seventh overlay for Super Action Soccer if I'm not completely wrong... +lawdawg710 #4 Posted January 17, 2016 I too would be interested. They look great!!!
Lucky Man #5 Posted January 17, 2016 Those look great! I would definitely be interested in a set. Any chance you could include Pixelboy's Super Action Soccer overlay as well?
ColecoDan #6 Posted January 17, 2016 I have a soccer overlay for Luc's release but I need soccer overlays for the original versions from coleco. If you could make those I would definitely be interested
Lucky Man #7 Posted January 17, 2016 I have a soccer overlay for Luc's release but I need soccer overlays for the original versions from coleco. If you could make those I would definitely be interested I thought the original version didn't come with overlays?
mumbai #8 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Please indelibly mark these as reproductions, for that inevitable someone who will purchase them from you to flip as authentic. Edited January 17, 2016 by mumbai
+pboland #9 Posted January 18, 2016 Please indelibly mark these as reproductions, for that inevitable someone who will purchase them from you to flip as authentic. My standard repro Colecovision overlays have a print mark on tabs and these new SAC overlay reproductions will have the mark/text on the back side of the overlays. ColecoDan #10 Posted January 18, 2016 I thought the original version didn't come with overlays? They didn't that is why I need them Although anyone that was here when EColeco was selling stuff they had a soccer overlay so people could have those if they bought them. Unfortunately by the time I came back to coleco they were towards the end and didn't have any left.

+pboland #12 Posted January 18, 2016 My standard repro Colecovision overlays have a print mark on tabs and these new SAC overlay reproductions will have the mark/text on the back side of the overlays. I figured you guys might like to see a complete front and back of the new SAC overlays: I dislike the term "reproduction" or "repro" do to the bad repros that have gotten out there. I like to think of my projects as trying to "replicate" the look and feel of a given time/product. With that in mind, I decided to reuse my factious brand name "Hotz" (same one used for my Colecovision trading cards CV-02) as part of my new mark. I feel it is important to make the mark look as good as if it's like its own company. I'm hoping this sets these overlays apart form just the run of the mill repros. Here's the new "Hotz Replications" logo that will be placed on the back of all of my SAC overlays. Let me know what you guys think.

frank_c #16 Posted January 23, 2016 How about a blank version? Could scribble button assignments on them for some of the games that had the stock controller overlays.
+pboland #17 Posted January 23, 2016 How about a blank version? Could scribble button assignments on them for some of the games that had the stock controller overlays. This could be done. Or…would you like to see custom made SAC overlays for those games? And which non super action games do you think would benefit the most from dedicated SAC overlays? frank_c #19 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) This could be done. Or…would you like to see custom made SAC overlays for those games? And which non super action games do you think would benefit the most from dedicated SAC overlays? I never had any non SAC overlay games. Borrowed a couple that had overlays, though. War Games and Mousetrap come to mind. I get aggravated when other people create me more work to do so I didn't want to suggest "come up with SAC versions of the overlay games." With a blank I could make notes on either side and cover two games. Edited January 23, 2016 by frank_c
+pboland #20 Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) Well, I might have to come up with a few new SAC overlays for some non SAC games. Edited January 24, 2016 by pboland
Pixelboy #21 Posted January 25, 2016 Well, I might have to come up with a few new SAC overlays for some non SAC games. It would be a shame to restrict the fruits of your labors to "official" SAC overlays. You could start with an easy one like Mouse Trap, show it here, and get the ball rolling. You could start with an easy one like Mouse Trap, show it here, and get the ball rolling. Good idea. I think I'll do that. Side note: It's been a while since I last had a SAC. Which two colored trigger buttons on the SAC correspond to which of the two action buttons on the standard controller?

Which two colored trigger buttons on the SAC correspond to which of the two action buttons on the standard controller? The two top ones (yellow and orange). I don't remember which is left and right though.
+RangerG #24 Posted January 25, 2016 I am interested. Does anyone else (like me) actually really like using the SAC?

Which two colored trigger buttons on the SAC correspond to which of the two action buttons on the standard controller? Pretty sure yellow corresponds to the LEFT fire button; red/orange corresponds to the RIGHT fire button. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong... I'm going to be wiring up some buttons for a CV arcade machine project and I need them to be mapped correctly...
