Got a Dell Dimension XPS Gen 2 tower for free

Recommended Posts

I was givin this tower a few days ago. Pentium 4 HT 3.2, 2gb ram, 250 gb HD, ATI Radeon 9550, Sound Blaster Audigy 2. How will this perform when it comes to emulation?

Pic shows it running Leisure Suit Larry Box Office or Bust.

It should take you easily to PS1 era emulation. And it will run mame at good speed, but you might not get the pixel shader and crt effects because of the age of the graphics card.

Honestly, things past PS1 don't emulate too well because of buggy emulators and lack of development. Not because of processor speed.

the 9550 does pixel shaders

the machine will do fine, it is a power hog for what it does but usually no one cares

(listens for the pitter patter of tiny pi-tard feet to burst in and tell us how great the pi is at emulation while using unicorn farts to power it, just cause emulation and power were mentioned in the same thread)

Yes, but only models 1 & 2. The 9550 doesn't support shader model 3.. And mame asks for 3 if you want to use CRT effects.

I have to admit I'm pretty pleased with performance so far between mame and ps1. Still need to set up atari, snes, nes and genesis. Then I'll go from there.
