Omega-TI #1 Posted January 27, 2016 Okay, a lot of us here at Atari Age could be considered 'hard core" TI'ers. That got me wondering how many of us here are hoarders.... make that 'collectors', or just someone who feels more comfortable with a backup of two, three or more....
RickyDean #2 Posted January 27, 2016 Does this include backplanes to use in PC cases?

RickyDean #5 Posted January 27, 2016 I counted my odd bits as well--like my Rave PE2 boxes, so mine are not all TI OEM hardware. . . That's why I was asking about backplanes. I have the innards of several PEB's that I lost in flooding years ago as well as my Rave.

+Ksarul #8 Posted January 27, 2016 My wife definitely thinks my TI stuff fits into the hoarder category. . .but then again, for her, even one system would be too much of MY stuff to keep in the house. She wants it ALL to be pristine, empty space. . .

vectrexroli #13 Posted January 28, 2016 My wife definitely thinks my TI stuff fits into the hoarder category. . .but then again, for her, even one system would be too much of MY stuff to keep in the house. She wants it ALL to be pristine, empty space. . . I totally know that situation, so our living room is quite empty, but "my" basement is a mess.
+Ksarul #14 Posted January 28, 2016 You hit that one perfectly, Vectrexroli--my problem is that the wife has set her eyes on reclaiming "my" basement space. . .

That got me wondering how many of us here are hoarders.... make that 'collectors', or just someone who feels more comfortable with a backup of two, three or more.... no, make that « Enthusiast » please... "Collector" is still pretty much an addict, and I would prefer to remain in blissful denial... And while I do have only one PEB (shipping costs being the primary reason), I DO also have a nanoPEB... So is that 1½ PEBs? (if there's anyone in the GTA that has one or more for sale, my quantity could increase PDQ!)
simbalion #17 Posted January 29, 2016 I ended up with two in a deal because the one was locking up and neither I or the seller of the units really knew what was wrong. If I had just flipped the connector around, I would have found out the second unit was fine, just the connector had been opened up and put together upside-down by a previous owner. I have noticed one of mine has a different style disk-drive door than the other, though both need work.

vectrexroli #21 Posted January 29, 2016 You hit that one perfectly, Vectrexroli--my problem is that the wife has set her eyes on reclaiming "my" basement space. . . It is very important to always state over and over again, how "unhealthy" the basement area is. It is darker there, the air as "bad" and unhealthy and there could be mold. Don´t know if my wife really believes me though.

am1933 #23 Posted January 29, 2016 I've told the other half to watch Blazing Saddles and if she ever tries to infringe on my "retro space"-she will be on the receiving end of the "ol' number 6". Maybe a little harsh but it has worked so far.
ElectricLab #24 Posted January 30, 2016 "What that? Oh, that's been there for years." A common sentence uttered to the wife I have three PEBs, nine consoles. I finally got a TI 99/4 monitor the other day which is something I've wanted for years.
