Rick Dangerous
I am thinking of picking up an Atari monitor for use with my 1040STe. There are quite a few, some older style looking, some more modern on ebay. I was wondering which monitors went with which generation of ST's? There must have been fewer monitor models (3-4) than St models produced i'm thinking.. Thanks!
Robson
http://www.atari7800.org/monitor.htm not all ST compatible though, have a look at the ones starting with SM and SC SM124 - mono, ST high SM125 - mono, ST high SC1224 - 12", colour SC1435 - stereo 14", colour My recommendation is SC1435 or not Atari : Phillips 8833 -II, maybe Commodore 1084S. These are the same thing with multiple inputs. The main question is what do you want to do with the STE? galax
Yeah I'd say SC1435 with an STE, surely the reason why it had stereo- I like the ergonomics and bigger 14" picture too. The JVC SC1224 is supposed to have the best picture though. The SM124 and Goldstar SC1224 match each other, so they look quite good together, I prefer the look of the SM125 though. Atari released quite a few different ST compatible monitors, more even than listed below, which all look and perform slightly differently. In fact there were probably more monitor different cases than ST cases, they didn't really match the computer releases at all. SM125 - has built-in stand SC1224 (version 1, Hitachi) SC1224 (version 2, JVC) - manual - has detachable cord SC1224 (Goldstar) SC1224 (Samsung) SM124 - manual SM144 - has optional stand SC1425 SC1435 - has optional stand Edited February 3, 2016 by galax
Zap!
I love my SC1435. They're not easy to find at all, but if you see one, grab it. Sent from my Galaxy Note Edge using Tapatalk
+DarkLord
If you wind up going for the SC1224 series, try to find the JVC model. Most people who have seen the picture from the different brands prefer it. I know I do. That said, the SC1435 is nice for any STe - simply because of the built in audio speakers and inputs. The 14" screen and removable base are +'s as well.

Went to test it the nex day with a other computer, no image and the high pitch noise of death

In order for it to stay on, I have to constantly hold the button.

leech
Mine has been sitting sad on a shelf for a few decades because of a cracked PCB board where the video connects... one of these days I will try to repair it.
