+cmart604 #178 Posted July 23, 2016 I will be going to Blue Star Donuts. They have high-end donuts. http://www.bluestardonuts.com Wow. Apparently we'll just be eating donuts the whole time we're in Portland. Glad I'm going Friday to Monday so I'll be able to eat at one of these three each day and then pick up a dozen from my favourite on Monday to take back home. wolfy62 #180 Posted July 23, 2016 Interesting fact, the dictionary approved spelling is Doughnut. Dunkin' Donuts adopted the shorter version when they started there chain of stores in the early 1900's.

Yes... and they opened one in Tokyo as well. They are good, but some of the flavors can get downright strange. Make my taste buds go... WAAAAAAT????!!!! +nurmix #185 Posted July 28, 2016 I'm not a donut / doughnut guy (don't really eat sweets at all). But I'll enjoy watching you all ingest massive amounts of sugar and calories. Sent from my Intellivision ECS using Intelli-Tapatalk
Rick Reynolds #186 Posted July 28, 2016 I've been told we need to check out Pizzicato while we're there. http://www.pizzicatopizza.com/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

+freewheel #190 Posted July 29, 2016 I'll probably spend the entire weekend in bed. The preparations for the event are going to kill me. Coming up with 30 new releases just to drive Eric nuts is a lot of work!

Guess I'm trying that tomorrow night. Looks good. It almost looks similar to Uno Pizzeria. I am not big into chains, but I really like Uno.

Guest LiqMat #194 Posted July 30, 2016 I've been told we need to check out Pizzicato while we're there. http://www.pizzicatopizza.com/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Dearly Beloved, I would like to thank Rick Reynolds for adding two pounds to my wasteline. I have tried this glorious temple of the Pizzicato and I now deem it worthy of the Pepperoni Amulet. Not only is it savory on the buds of taste, but it is the sort of edible object that allows the mind to wander to pleasant places of unicorns and talking hares. Yes this great shrine of cheese and meat coma is fully approved for your consumption. Please now resume to your former activities. Thank you.
Guest LiqMat #195 Posted July 30, 2016 P.S. - Their medium 12" is a small in my book so get the large, but watch the toppings or your wallet will cry.
+freewheel #196 Posted July 30, 2016 Ah, America. Up here, a 12" often IS the large.
fdr4prez #197 Posted July 31, 2016 Is that because you Canucks do many things in the metric system and 300mm sounds rather large?
Guest LiqMat #198 Posted July 31, 2016 Ah, America. Up here, a 12" often IS the large. Hey, my wife is Canadian and she thinks 12" is small too. Wait a minute...
+freewheel #199 Posted July 31, 2016 Is that because you Canucks do many things in the metric system and 300mm sounds rather large? Hehehe. Contrary to what you'd expect, quite a lot of consumer goods are still measured in Imperial units up here. Paper, lumber, pizza, and a whole host of things are all standardized around US sizes. True story: you know the "Hot and Ready" pizzas that Little Caesars has for 5 bucks? In Canada, they're a Medium (which given the thinness of these pizzas, I believe is a 12"). In the USA, they're a Large for the same price (I believe a 14"). Part of that is just that food is cheaper in the USA, but it's also just that portions typically are larger. The first time I took one back to my hotel room, expecting it to be a filling-but-not-bursting meal... I was in for a surprise. That is a hell of a lot of pizza for one person to eat. Thicker, heavier pizza here is often 8-10-12 for S-M-L whereas I notice the exact same style in the US will be 10-12-14/15. It's very noticeable when you compare the same chain, because the pizza itself is otherwise the same.
retrorussell #200 Posted July 31, 2016 Are we going to instigate a get-together this time for AAgers? Albert said something about wanting to set something up last year for us to meet but it didn't materialize for some reason or other I can't remember. Would like to meet some folks.
