carlsson #26 Posted March 31, 2016 Regarding Giana Sisters, I've never witnessed that in any version/crack that I've played. If you run it in an emulator, does it behave the same way? If your emulator is set to NTSC, try PAL or vice versa and see if it makes any difference. It sounds a bit odd if it would be an artifact of fewer raster lines, but who knows? cjameslv #27 Posted April 1, 2016 Well i run it on actual hardware and so far, all versions floating around csdb and your normal sites (coolrom, plantemu, doperoms & isozone) all have the same issue. I've tried so many versions i finally decided it must just be that way. If yours does not, i'll pm you my email and would love to try your version! carlsson #28 Posted April 1, 2016 Most probably I have downloaded from the same sites as you have, including Gamebase64 / Latif plus possibly the FTP site at arnold.c64.org. I haven't yet tested in emulation, perhaps you get to it before I do.
carlsson #29 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Oh yes, now I see what you mean. I ran Giana Sisters, pretty much any random crack in WinVICE x64. In PAL mode, it runs smooth and fine, but if I switch to NTSC there is a lot of background graphics glitching. Interesting, I wonder if there are special NTSC fixed versions? Edit: Based on emulation, a Drean 64 with a 60 Hz (?) PAL-N has very small glitches compared to a regular 50 Hz PAL-G, but looks far better than a 60 Hz NTSC-M. +save2600 #30 Posted April 1, 2016 Would be nice if there were! Good enough game that deserves to be glitch free.
cjameslv #31 Posted April 1, 2016 If there is, it must be hiding lol.
carlsson #32 Posted April 1, 2016 Lemon64 thread, now that we know the cause: http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30852 And no, so far it doesn't seem like anyone has NTSC fixed this particular game.
