hack3rcmv
Hi, I used to collect Atari computers and PCs of similar age and I've been getting rid of most of my old collection since I've fallen out of the hobby. I really like the way the SM124 monitor I have looks though and was wondering if there was any way to connect a vga or other sort of slightly more updated video connection to it. I've found adapters online but they all seem to be so that you can use a VGA monitor with an Atari ST, I'm searching for the opposite of that basically. Any information about adapters, mods, or why what I'm asking isn't feasible or practical would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
galax
If you can get your graphics card to output quite close to a 71.286Hz vertical 35.7143kHz horizontal signal, then there's a chance that you can get something to display on the SM124, I'm not sure how flexible the SM124 is though- probably not very. You'd have to build the opposite adapter to the ones many of us make and buy that adapt from the ST to VGA. You may have to boost the signal from VGA's 0.7v to the 1.0v, you'll find out when you try it!
ParanoidLittleMan
Sorry, but idea is just bad. Not that can not be done, but will have pretty limited res, and only few shades of grey. Total useless with any SW younger than 20 years on PC.
