Hi all,

 

Here's another update. We'll call this the "Paint the town red" patch.

 

- Blood sprays

- Persistent Bloody floor

- Enemies wander around whilst waiting to fight you. Instead of standing and watching.

- Green bad guys do more damage to you - so prioritise them!

- Your kick is now close range only but does more damage.

- Your punch reaches further but does less damage.

 

Player discretion advised now. Probably classed as an M for Mature rating

 

 

 

 

Edit: UI is under design but score is on the left and health on the right.

 

Also, thanks to OMF for his Object list editor. I've been using his tool for this project and it's sped up my workflow.

That was great. Seemed on the previous version you could keep the enemies walking into your attack if you never turned around. Not the case anymore lol.

Loved all the blood too. Here's one of my better scores

Just a quick post to say I am still working on this.

 

I needed a break for a while and haven't done any Jag coding for a couple of weeks.

 

Changes;

- Added a small screenshake effect when the player falls over.

- Added 'Rage' bar that gives you a powapunch/powakick move when it's maxed.

 

Currently working on;

- Better AI.

- Find the z sorting problem that occasionally happens

 

I will post another binary once there is more to see (no point for minor changes).

 

Obviously NotOutun needs finishing too!

Powah -punch you say...? Maybe the game should be about a Jagumaniac fighting off all the Jag-haters saying the machine has no powah?

He could be dressed in the rare Jag jeans jacket, have the Jag fanny pack/belly bag, Jag baseball cap, and when raged make a cool jaguar roar!

The enemy should ofc be hordes of NES milksops.

Argh, why did my Skunkboard have to bite the dust? I'd be firing this up in a heartbeat on the real thing (settling on the emulation for now )

 

Beat 'em ups have long been one of my favorite genres and when I first got DD5 I thought it was going to be a DD style game...that was definitely a huge disappointment (and reason for better vetting of games before I bought). As others said in the thread, this genre should have got some representation on the Jag (sad face for Conan)
