I am interested too. I also want 10 or so. Someone in Europe might get 50 or so, sent it here, we distribute from here.. I can offer my help in keep them and "selling" them at cost + shipping cost  if you want (the connectors can be ship locally at a convenient rate since an envelope might be enough). Or maybe there is a better way to do it.

I asked a friend in the UK if he would let me order and have it shipped to him, he said yes but the website wont even let me order for UK delivery if the invoice address is the USA

Hi,

I´ve ordered 10 pieces now to check, if they work out for the XL/XE keyboard connector REALLY. Will test all kind of mylar cables. When all is fine, I will order a few hundred pieces and share them with all other folks in the US and elsewhere.

That sounds great!

Hi all,

yesterday Conrad Electronics delivered the 10 pieces (really fast!) and it´s a win! They fit absolutely like a charm, no problems to insert any of the mylar cables found at several XL or XE keyboards. Of course the dimensions is also exactly like the genuine one used by Atari. So we found a cheap and reliable replacement for all of those broken or oxydized old connectors.

I´ve ordered today 100 pieces. They´re offered by me for 50 Eurocents each. Regarding the high international shipping costs, I would suggest to order only if you want other parts from me. I will keep them in stock as long Conrad sells them.

Jurgen

OK. I just ordered 25 for myself and I think someone like @tf_hh might be interested too. Perhaps a bulk order could be placed and distribution arranged for interested parties in the US.

Hi Jon, don't suppose you have one spare that I could buy? Got a 65xe with terribly corroded pins , and I really screwed it up trying to fix it ?

I recently ordered 3 from tf_hh.  He links a PDF in his signature of what he has for sale.

Got a pretty nice 800XL but the keyboard (two-terminal mechanical switches) connector is getting a bit dodgy. I have the headers to fix it but thought I would look for the more ready-made solution. Here's what I found at Mouser in AUD$. If Mouser has this stuff then Digikey and Element14/Farnell should have it too but possibly not option 2, the Samtec cable is old.

Option 1 - soldering and crimping

24-way receptacle $1.35 (qty 10)

https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/50-57-9024?qs=naUSJSqnqcI6Oi9ubyKqMw%3D%3D

crimp terminals $1.10 (qty 500)

https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/70058-4086?qs=fRFlKTDPPdHgCukSqCgVjQ%3D%3D

24-way header row $2.09 (qty 10)

https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/22-28-4245?qs=k9kYHbov5vWtCxwbHVc%2BCw%3D%3D

Cable is your option... ribbon cable will usually not solder well because the insulation melts away too easily. If you have the right crimper (Engineer PA-24 is one) this will work. I would probably do 30 AWG Kynar wire because it is easy to strip, wrap and then solder on the pins and then to gather into a neat twisted and/or sheathed round cable. Kynar insulation won't melt, great stuff.

Option 2 - soldering but no crimping

24-way single row 2.54mm pitch plug attached to 203.2mm length 2.54mm pitch cable $17.62
IDMS-24-S-08.00-ST4

https://au.mouser.com/datasheet/2/527/idmd-2508302.pdf

Will this cable solder well? Don't know. Also the length of the pins on the connector is unknown, it isn't specified on the brief datasheet but is probably long enough for the socket.

24-way single row through hole socket $4.85
