nshollingsworth
Hi guys, I have made the decision that the lynx is the way to go for portable gaming, and I was wondering which model is the best. I'm not so worried about batteries (I'll probably get the external battery anyways) Thanks
BadPricey
You need to hold both to see which one feels best. I love the Lynx I, the style and feel just seems nicer. I use my Lynx II the most though, it has one of McWill's lcd mods fitted. ?
Clint Thompson
Either model sporting McWill's LCD mod is best =D
Guitari
2 is an improved design as far as I'm concerned. It's more symmetrical and easier to hold. But I have mcwill mods in both variety so I recommend this if you can stretch to it.

Rick Dangerous
The II, for several reasons.
lNFERNO
I have both of them models: Lynx 1 have a better image quality (sharper screen), very loud sound by its speaker, I have better feeling with controls, it is the first one, no pocket! a classic system. Lynx II are more compact, Stereo sound output for the headphones, it is faster and more convenient to change cartridge games (no problems with extra space of the homebrew).
Atari_afternoon
The Lynx II is "better" (a little less energy consumption, smaller dimension, better cartridge slot, all in all, the technically updated model), but the Lynx I has more style and I always love playing on a Lynx I when i get the chance. Model I is harder to obtain I´m afraid..

Trew
Lynx II has the option to turn off the backlight to save battery when not in using too. I also prefer how the Lynx II looks, but each to their own etc. The right answer, is to buy both.
Turbo-Torch
Lynx II is best. It's 2016 so batteries should be of no concern. Use high capacity rechargeable Ni–MH batteries which will even give longer run times than throw away alkalines. If you don't want any downtime, buy two sets...it's not like they cost much more than a set of useless Duracells which will end up in landfill after 4 hours of use.
TrekMD
I prefer the Lynx II. The batteries are not a concern. I use lithium batteries and those last a long time!
GadgetUK
The Lynx 2 is superior in most ways, but the Lynx 1 has louder sound (despite lack of stereo sound via headphones that you get on the Lynx 2), but there's just something cool about the Lynx 1 style. I say get both, why settle for 1 when you have have 2 =D
sirlynxalot
Huge fan of the first model. Among other things I find the dpad to be a lot better compared to my lynx 2, but maybe my lynx 2 was just used too much before I got it. I also prefer the looks of the Lynx 1 - and for all who might criticize the lynx 1 for being larger than the lynx 2, the lynx 2 design never appealed to me that much since it was a LOT fatter than the lynx 1. I would equate the experience of holding the lynx 2, to the experience of holding a giant hamburger from one of those chain restaurants (apple bees, chilis, TGI Fridays, etc), of course, perhaps holding the lynx 1 could be equated to holding a thin submarine sandwich Love this caricature Edited March 22, 2016 by sirlynxalot
Turbo Laser Lynx
Nice! Where did you find that drawing / who made it? I've seen quite a few members stating over the years that the Lynx I seems to be a higher quality build, and I agree. However personally I think they fixed quite a few design issues on Lynx II. My wrists always start hurting playing on Lynx I because the whole design is bent a bit inwards as we clearly can see in this wonderful caricature, also the D-pad is is too far in unless you have long fingers. Anyways both models have pros and cons but pretty awesome unique design. They both look freakin' amazing! I'd recommend getting both, but you could probably buy the one that you prefer visually first.
sirlynxalot
This is the source/artist for the exxagerated lynx 1 image. I want to squeeze it, it could easily be a pillow. Lynx plushies anyone?http://amazingtrout.deviantart.com/art/Atari-Lynx-191833185You might like these by the same artist as well:Can you tell what this is? bdoi
Nice drawing ! But I didn't know that game gear was known as voracious with battery. I thought that game gear and lynx were similar with battery life. But it's may be just for the caricature. When will the artist will draw lynx II ? Twoface2
Lynx II are more compact, Stereo sound output for the headphones, it is faster ... ???
+LS650
I don't think I can see any difference between the two displays... I think the I has a cooler design, but the II is more comfortable to hold for me.
lNFERNO
??? Simply you don't need to open the cover for change cartridges. The cover on Lynx 1 it's hard to open (this is slow process and negative) if we compare both.

nshollingsworth
I went ahead and got the model one. I then had the misfortune of playing the gates of zendocon.
