Tonyvdb
So I found an old Apple A9M0106 disc drive but it won't take a disk. Is this likely reparable or is it toast. When I power up the GS nothing happens to the drive at all.
Keatah
A little bit of old-school troubleshooting and it'll be right as rain!
Caterpiggle
Did you see red LED on and hear the sound of spinning on 3.5 drive ?
Tonyvdb
No sound and the LED did come on for a second. A disc goes in all the way so it's almost flush with the face but stops as if it's hitting something. I've tried inserting a paper clip in the little hole on the button still no difference. Caterpiggle
Failed for auto-rejected if it can't read Apple II or IIgs version software ? Do you have copy or original 3.5 diskette software ?
towmater
The lube in these drives turns to glue after some time, I had the same drive, cleaned off the old lube, then out on some teflon spray and it worked right as rain again.
towmater
Whatever you do, when you are trouble shooting inside the drive, DO NOT plug the header coming from the drive cable directly into the drive, it must go to the adapter board, or your IWM chip will go bye-bye. Tonyvdb
Ive been busy so haven't opened it up as of yet but I did get another identical drive and it works so my thoughts are that something is wrong with the auto insert/eject portion of the drive.
