Bill Lange
Has anyone tried the new upgraded internal replacement Mylars for the Atari 1200XL keyboard from Best Electronics? Regards, Bill
Smokeless Joe
I've never seen those on the site before. I'll be ordering at least two!

Tempest
Interesting. I was able to fix mine using the standard conductive paint method, but I wonder if I'll have trouble in the future.
+Stephen
They sure look nice.
Bill Lange
I also 'fixed' mine last summer with conductive paint, but I'm not sure how long that will hold. The newly printed ones look really nice. Bill
Smokeless Joe
Yeah, I fixed two keyboards using the conductive paint method just a month or so ago. They've been working, but I'd really like some backup, just in case. Edited March 21, 2016 by Smokeless Joe
AtariBrian
If I owned a 1200xl I would be all over this
+orpheuswaking
I'm curious when he had these made. I check his site often and have never seen these before. [edit] Looks like 3/16/16 so brand new Edited March 21, 2016 by orpheuswaking
Bill Lange
I just emailed Brad to order one. I'll let you know how it works. Bill
Paul Westphal
He has been working on this for quite some time. I just ordered one myself.
Paul Westphal
I have fixed many with liquid silver..It's not hard, just time consuming. The 10th 1200xl I'm restoring is giving me fits (three tries on the keyboard ) so this should be the end all.
Marius
Yeah... I have ordered one too. I have one 1200XL myself, and I still have to make this a PAL machine. The keyboard is not so good, so with this new mylar this might become a very nice machine. With FJC more than excellent U1MB Bios and PBI driver this is a good candidate for a SIDE2 HD system. shoestring
The type 4 keyboard has the same issue. Are there any plans for a Mylar replacement as well? I've managed to repair several broken connections using thin cut strips of adhesive copper tape but looking ahead, I think it's going to get worse over time. joe58
Just ordered 2 of these. Really only needed one, but when I read the words "Very, Very Limited" figured it wouldn't hurt to plan ahead and grab a spare.
_The Doctor__
Everything is very very limited in the listings... I was on the phone with him and he was breaking down a couple palettes of an item and when he listed it.. it said only a few discovered... whatever... Deteacher
Looks like I'll be ordering one of these, myself. I just picked up a 1200xl and a bunch of other goodies from an estate sale for $100. The computer passed all tests and is in pristine-looking condition, but 90% of the keys don't work. I'm going to start by just cleaning the mylar up, but from what I'm reading, that's probably not going to do the trick. God bless Atariage and Best Electronics! Smokeless Joe
I got my mylars from Best today. They work great and are real pretty too! I am very pleased with the result. There's a little tab of padding on the back that goes across the interface fingers. I think it helps press the contacts of the mylar and the PCB together. Hooray for new parts for the 1200XL! How long did it take to get the replacements from Best? I just took mine apart and cleaned up the contacts (temporary fix at best, assuming it even works.) Looking forward to playing with my new toy. Smokeless Joe
I paid on Tuesday and they arrived today (Friday). Pretty quick! I didn't order much else, so that probably helped.

Thanks for the info Ok, so I took it all apart. I peeled off the mylar as best I could. I cleaned off all the connectors (both on the mylar and on the green PCB) with alcohol and a Q-Tip. I put it all back together and SUCCESS! Every key is working. Now, I know this is only a temp fix at best, but a new problem cropped up: When I turn it on, the power LED does not light up anymore. The computer passed all its tests, but the LEDs are no longer lighting up. What should I look for?
gilsaluki
I believe the smaller ribbon is for the LED. Check it, make sure it is connected properly. You may be one pin over, to the left or right.
Kyle22
Did you re-connect the LEDs cable?
