Final Fantasy IX released for PC

Recommended Posts

This was my favorite FF title.

"These Japanese publishers are getting speedier with their PC ports—a mere 16 years have passed between the release of Final Fantasy 9 and its appearance on Steam. It crept on in the small hours with an opening-week price of £12.79/$16.79.

It's a surprisingly stealthy release for what Tom (mistakenly) calls the secret best Final Fantasy title. After news came out on the Japanese Square Enix site, we weren't sure the port was coming West, but it looks like Squenix is bent on completing its collection of Final Fantasy games on Steam. This entry is even quite well presented. Oh for a remastered Final Fantasy 12."

I bought it before work and plan to play it once I get home.

Final Fantasy IX is easily my favorite in the series. Can't wait to see the PC version all nicely remastered.

I got it on Android as well, but I couldn't really get into the touch based controls.

It's a pretty smart move to bring these to PC. A lot of people will have heard of it but maybe not bother with emulators.

Easily one of the best looking PS1 games. Nearly N64 quality visuals.

While this only slightly dampers my opinion of the game... I learned that all they did to port this to PC was take the Android version and emulate it in Windows.

I'm still going to love the game, but this is a bit depressing to hear that for me :/

Final Fantasy X has it good moments, but IX was the last good one for me from start to finish and the best one since VI. I am not interested in the online ones, and XII onwards are just very tedious and sub par.

FF9, while one of my favorite FF’s is one I got stuck at a save point with 3-4 bosses ahead of me and no way to go back and grind up any more. If it weren’t for having a Game Shark Lite disk, that run would have been over. I believe that was on disk 3ish as well, so it would have been dozens of play hours lost. Glad they put some optional codes on the PC version.

On the PS1 my fav was FF8. On the SNES definitely 6. On PS2 probably 10 as I still haven't tried FF12...which some people say was the best game.....
