Who repairs the 902503-02 C64 repairable PSU?

Recommended Posts

Yup. I have one of these beasts with 5V @ 7.5A. Mine no longer works properly. Who is fixing these units these days?

Ray Carlsen repairs them. The tech from The Other Group of Amigoids upgrades them with modern components.

Tah donkeys, once again. I think I like the idea of "modern" components, like a switching 5V supply, but how modern can you get with 9V AC?

Just a step down transformer from the mains. Nothing else. This part hadn't changed in well over 100 years since AC won out over DC for power grid in USA and in the world.

I figured as much. Still a "wall wart." Is there any benefit or drawbacks to using a switching DC power supply, then using a DC-AC inverter to supply to 9V AC, assuming one with sufficient amperage is available?

Someone posted specs on a power supply using a circuit to generate a 9V square wave. It is not recommended, as you rather would want the sinus wave of real AC.
