Inky #1 Posted April 25, 2016 We all know that light guns don't work on modern TV's, and I've heard that the Sega 3-D glasses don't either. First, I know that there are a few of the 3-D games that will work in 2-D. Zaxxon 3D for one (hidden menu at power up. Press pause at the title screen, and you can switch.) I wonder what other games can be played in 2-D without modification, and if there are 2-D hacks of the games that allow play on a modern TV (I'm fully expecting the answer on this to be a no.)Thoughts? CatPix #2 Posted April 25, 2016 The problem is that the 3D from the Sega Glasses is based on displaying a picture shifted on the left and on the right alternatively. Modern LCD display the picture in progressive mode to avoir interlacing issues, that is, they display a picture every two frames (so it stick the odd and even lines together to make a complete picture). Depending on other factor (100htz display, Game Mode engaged or unavailable, etc...) some TV will render it, some won't. With the 100 Htz thing, the 3D glasses won't work either on CRT TVs, like light guns. For your question, I'd be surprised if 3D games weren't released in 2D later... 7800fan #3 Posted April 25, 2016 Also LCD glasses don't work on LCD panel anyway. Global Defense can be played in 2D and 3D. I think Outrun 3D has 2D mode but can't remember.
