Straight cracks from Farb's ATX-Torrent

Is this something some of the resident code-wizards would be interested in doing? If so, thanks in advance. :)

The Activision release of The Eidolon uses a different loader which might work with SIDEloader.

Please give it a try.

It is part of Farb's latest torrent.

Thank you, I will give that a try this weekend when I get some time with my real hardware. :)

(P.S. I was unaware Activision ever had a release of this game!)

Bump. I have an Eclaire now, so any new cracks?

Only a hand full.

It put cracking on a hold until I am able to upload all my stuff (incl. documentation) to archive.org - which I finally am very close to.

Thank you all you’ve done in this regard over the years, by the way. I LOVE being able to write one of your clean files to a floppy and then boot the game in an actual disk drive occasionally. My CF card and SIO2PC-USB solutions are certainly faster and more convenient, but nowhere near as nostalgic. :)

Whoa, I guess I am confused.

Can these cracked games be re-written back to a real floppy?

They are just plain ATR disk image files with their protection removed. They can be written back like any other ATR image, i.e. by using a sector copier on the Atari, reading from SIO2SD or SIO2PC and writing to a stock Atari disk drive.

Hi Mac,

yes, I'm holding down the Option key when turning on the computer.

I am using Mycopyr! 2.1 to transfer the .atr file to disk on the stock 1050.

I've also run the 1050 diagnostic disk and it passes all the tests not requiring the Dymek disk.

Regards

OK,

I have tried The Music Construction Set In Altirra and it loads and runs, along with the Eidelon and Seven Cities of Gold. So not sure why these won't load and run when copied to disk on a stock 1050 disk drive.

some questions:

■ how far do any of these get when booting on real hardware?

■ what sio2pc hardware are you using? atarimax/lotharek/Megahtz/Atari8Warez?

■ what software are you using? ape+prosystem/AspeQt/other?

Sorry I can't help more either, I use an SD-Max and my old SD2USB was a really basic model which like my real machines got stored out of the way as my man cave is actually me and my wifes bedroom so I can't have too much gear out (as they say). Have not even had a chance to test that atr on the SD-Max.

Pretty sure its the timing as all three are EA titles who are sods for timing checks to stop Happy drives loading their stuff unless they were in Un-Happy mode....Funky load speeds would cause the same thing..

If I get a chance I'll have a look at Aspeqt and some real hardware over the weekend..

Love your work, DjayBee. Are your cracks on archive.org?

Not yet. I was caught up with too many other things.

Due to the way I intend to present them, I must preprocess everything.

You will find them eventually here https://archive.org/details/@cs_stuttgart where currently only a few test uploads can be found.
