Shaggy the Atarian #1 Posted May 7, 2016 Licensed from Nintendo by Eugene Jarvis's company, Raw Thrills. Likely coming this Summer (based on a retweet) and on test in Chicago right now. 4th installment is called Cruis'n Adventure (also Dance Central on its way to arcades, for any fans of rhythm gaming): http://arcadeheroes.com/2016/05/05/cruisn-adventure-dance-central-3-arcade-test/
Flojomojo #2 Posted May 14, 2016 Maybe there will be a home version for the Nintendo NX launch. Man, what a played- out brand. I certainly had my fun with the old games (even the weirdo Wii version), but at this point I'd just as soon play Asphalt on my phone, unless they make it VERY fun!! Shaggy the Atarian #4 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) Maybe there will be a home version for the Nintendo NX launch. Man, what a played- out brand. I imagine that it will only happen if Nintendo feels incredibly desperate for content. Arcade releases need time to breathe, which is something that Raw Thrills understands. If there is an NX launch version then there would be less than 1 year for the arcade version to be on the market and that would kill a lot of sales. I am also doubtful about it as even content from the Mario Kart Arcade GP series has not appeared on their consoles even in DLC form. jdoll #6 Posted May 15, 2016 here is hoping some of the big arcades out here will bring it in as i am sure it will be spendy i love this series as i have fond memories in arcades and on my n64 i think an nx release would be great down the road
Shaggy the Atarian #7 Posted July 6, 2016 Latest footage of the game in action: More details on what is seen here: http://arcadeheroes.com/2016/06/13/first-footage-new-cruisn-redline-nintendo-raw-thrills/ The most recent word I got from my contact at Raw Thrills stated that they likely will change the name again, they are leaning towards "Cruis'n Blast". Personally, I prefer the original subtitle of Adventure more but maybe InfroTari is going after people over the use of that word in their games like they've been doing over Haunted House. Now, what would be nice, and it could be a good promotional for the new arcade game, is a release of remastered versions of Cruis'n USA, Cruis'n World, and Cruis'n Exotica, all with new graphics, better models, etc., but still retain the same gameplay that made the originals great. That would be nice to have on a home machine.
Flojomojo #9 Posted July 19, 2016 I'd buy that, even though I do not think those games hold up. I'd just as soon play Asphalt 8 nowadays.

Austin #11 Posted July 19, 2016 I think the new Cruis 'n looks really fun. I hope Raw Thrills makes another appearance at ReplayFX this year and brings one of these. They had that Batman game last year. Cool stuff.
Chris++ #12 Posted July 19, 2016 As Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World were actually Midway games, I wonder why they were licensed to Nintendo. Surely Midway still had plenty of distribution channels, given its long '70s and '80s history.
Austin #13 Posted July 19, 2016 As Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World were actually Midway games, I wonder why they were licensed to Nintendo. Surely Midway still had plenty of distribution channels, given its long '70s and '80s history. It appears it's the other way around. Nintendo owns the Cruis'n property, not Midway despite them having developed it. It's likely Nintendo came to Midway to make the game (Midway doing most of the development, with oversight from Nintendo--not uncommon). Basically, Nintendo paid Midway to make it, and Nintendo retained ownership of it.
Flojomojo #14 Posted July 19, 2016 Midway was part of the "dream team" developing for the N64, and the arcade Cruis'n has Ultra64 logos on it, 2 years before the home N64 came out. Everyone expected the home port to be a lot closer to the arcade version than what we got. I paid $70 that I didn't really have for that cartridge in 1996 for unknown reasons, probably the usual addiction and obsession.
Aldo #15 Posted July 29, 2016 I really thought with the Nintendo 64 we were getting our own "Neo Geo" in a way. Games that were arcade perfect, little did I know... Nintendo 64 was the point where my unwavering loyalty for Nintendo took a big hit.
Shaggy the Atarian #16 Posted October 1, 2016 Update - Official information now available including the cabinet design. http://arcadeheroes.com/2016/09/30/cruisn-blast-by-raw-thrills-nintendo/ As a note on a potential port - the original PR said "Nintendo presents Cruis'n Blast, it's first arcade exclusive release" instead of Raw Thrills. That makes more sense as RT has already done several arcade exclusive games. I have to imagine that one of Nintendo's early arcade releases never was ported to a console but whatever. It does seem to indicate that a WiiU/NX version is NOT in the cards, at least for quite a while.
