arcadegeek23 #1 Posted May 14, 2016 I have been slowly trying to hit and hunt down stores in the Minneapolis and St Paul area to find ones that have some inventory of the old consoles and rare systems like 7800, Lynx, 5200, Intellivision and even Vectrex and Od2. NES, Genesis, SNES, N64 seem to be out there. World of Games in Lakeville has been the best but still faulty limited. Just wondering if anyone has found any good local stores. Maybe we need a swap meet.

Skippy B. Coyote #5 Posted May 15, 2016 I live in Saint Paul and go game hunting locally just about every week, so I think I can help you out. At this point there are three local stores I would recommend: #1 Games N Go (Rosedale Mall) My favorite local chain that has, for the most part, reasonable prices comparable to what you'll find on eBay. Their selection is very large, but at the moment it's a bit disorganized and not all out on the shelves yet since they're still in the middle of consolidating all the inventory from their other two locations that recently shut down into their now one store in Rosedale Mall. Still, the service is great and they have a pretty wide selection of games for all the more common systems. They also run fighting game tournaments a few times a week if you're into that sort of thing. #2. Toyriffic (Maplewood) This is the place to go if you're looking for more obscure stuff, and the guy who owns and runs the store most days is just plain awesome. Again, the prices are fairly similar to eBay but they often have "buy 1 get 1 free" sales on all kinds of things and you can find everything from CIB pong consoles to the latest games for modern systems here. #3. High Score Games (North Saint Paul) I saved this one for last because while they do have the largest selection of games and systems in the area, their prices on games are often outrageous and have earned them the nickname of "High Price Games" among the local retro gaming community. On the flip side, they do usually have great prices on hard to find systems (Atari 7800, Intellivision, ColecoVision, etc.) and their in-house tech staff really know their stuff when it comes to repairing and refurbishing older systems. You can still find some good deals on games here now and then, but for the most part I'd only recommended High Score Games for system purchases and advise you to check out the other two aformentioned stores for games. Hope that helps!
arcadegeek23 #6 Posted May 15, 2016 Thanks Jin! Looks like a trip to Roseville is in order. I did hit Toyriffic yesterday by chance and High Score. As expected small selection of 7800 or Lynx but I did find a couple of titles I was looking for so success. If you get to the south side I would recommend you stop at world of games. They have some decent games from time to time and a number of older retro systems. Good guys and prices are good.
