Stupid Things You Hear Collectors Say

Recommended Posts

The Nintendo d-pad is a little older than that patent.

Here's another one from 1978; and there's probably d-pads older than this.

This is more of a forerunner to the Dpad as these are separate direction buttons in a cross shape instead of the single button dpad that became the staple of gaming. Edited by empsolo

Do you know what the dpad actually entails? (Of course you don't) It's not just four buttons.

They all have four switches controlled by one thumb. But if your talking about a single pivoting top piece that would be the Intellivision disc, mentioned earlier, except it has 16 switches.

Take it up with the United States Patent office.

The Intellivision disc is nothing like it.

Great quotes folks keeping with the spirit of the thread but these are not stupid things collectors say just things collectors debate.

The original d pad I thought was something like this.

Deposit console/game here is worth dumptruck loads of money.

That's the most common one I run into. It's magnified by the few ultra rare games that end up on Tv whenever there is no attempt to fact check or mention little details like completeness being part of it.
