+kevtris #1 Posted June 3, 2016 Awhile back, I had found a tube of 5 brand new Atari branded ROM chips at a surplus store. Being the curious type, I bought the tube for a buck or two, just to see what was on the chips. Turns out, the game is Jr. Pac-Man for the Atari 2600. This isn't too interesting, but what IS interesting, is the data on the chips appears to be different than the regular released ROM that is floating around the 'net and on Atariage! I doubt the change is anything TOO spectacular, and this rev could be well known, but so far I have not seen it. I only seem to see one rev of the game available. Since this is a ROM only, I had to dump it somehow, so I used my recently-modified Allpro to do this. A script was made, and the chip was dumped to a binary and then tested on Stella. Comparing my dump with the usual version seems to indicate that any changes are in the first bank, while the last three seem to be pretty much the same. There's some pictures of the programmer and the chips, as well as the ROM dump attached. Hopefully this is a new version, but if not it's a good story at least! I also found two tubes of Coleco branded chips there which I dumped. They appear to be 8K each but I haven't figured out exactly what they are. If there's interest I will post some pics/dumps in the Coleco section. CO26023-29.bin
+Mitch #2 Posted June 3, 2016 It is an exact match of the PAL version of 2600 Jr Pac. Mitch

+save2600 #4 Posted June 3, 2016 Rats, would have been neat had the chips been a true variant!
Lynxpro #5 Posted June 5, 2016 Interesting surplus store. Were there any other ROM chips?
