Sometimes, this is not a "community"...

Recommended Posts

What is interesting how much less time I waste reading useless posts since I started using the Ignore feature. If more people used it there would be a a lots less "troll-whacking" and more "community"

I'm using the ignore feature for the OP, and although I sometimes feel the need to click the "view it anyway" button, it makes me feel better because then it's my choice to read the nonsense, and it's not forced on me.

the ignore button only shows an ignore on the topic. The topics still show up in the newest topics and marked as unread so i have to go into them to get them to be marked as read

True, but at least the trollish nonsense doesn't show up, and that makes the place a whole lot sweeter.

In my honest opinion, I have never read a thread where you weren't argumentative.

There is a reason why your neighbor pressed charges.

That's a little hard to do, having been raised with the mentality that something like that is NOT an insult.

I find that hard to believe. The term "lazy" is an accusation. If I had called my parents or teachers "lazy" as a small child, there would have been punishment involved. Not a punishment like a spanking or getting my mouth washed out with soap, but there would have been something. Same goes for any of my childhood friends.

Hatman... the box design that you posted in the Super Pro Baseball thread is beautiful. I will definitely buy one! :)

Constructive statements can go further than negative. Instead of saying...

It should be a complete everything. I'm sorry, Dave... just expressing my honest opinion here... but to me, this is laziness on your part.

Say something more like

It should be a complete everything. Hey Dave, if you go the extra mile on this, I'd pay money for it to be CIB.

But what if David doesn't sell you a board? Then you'd have an empty box :(

Having already been lazy and released a game without a box I can tell you the backlash from the angry mobs with torches and pitchforks was truly inspiring. Surely one can release however one choses to. Lazy is really not the reason, it is usually other interests and projects. We were begging David to release that game. So he say's he'll do it and he gets grief for it. I thought it was a win / win. The community got what we asked for when the person didn't really want to do it at all. Banning people it a tough call for moderators. I was asked to back up a bit here on Atari Age once too. We all get excited sometime...so let's all just rub a pot roast all over our chest and call it a day.

I will not be limiting the items I make from anyone for any reason. I do not agree with Eric's assessment of intvdave's SP Baseball release but his opinion is his and I respect his right to post it as any of us here may do the same.

We have the ignore feature for this reason and it is a simple tool to use. I find it much more childish to clutter a thread with 50 posts deriding what was said in often equally childish ways than I do simply looking at it, thinking "Whatever!", and moving on to the part of the topic/discussion I am interested in. Some people have better filters than others. Some have a better grasp of tact and social awareness than others. Some just don't give a crap and are straight shooters all the time. How one handles these statements says much more about one's self than the less tactful posts say about them.

The planet doesn't have filters. It's up to us to manage our own.

Why wouldn't he sell me one? I'm still a paying customer. Anyway, I'd rather not discuss this. I can always get somebody to get me a board, and then I'd pay them. There's always a way.

I think you're a nutcase Eric. No offence, just my opinion.

And, I think you're too lazy and stingy to pony up the cash and become a publisher of Intellivision games and make them 'properly'. No offence. Just my opinion.

See how that works? No one can say anything against me because I'm just expressing my opinion.

Unlike others, I'm not clamoring for you to be banned from this thread. And I respect your opinion, rather than being insulted by it.

See how that works? ;)

I normally stay away from these type of discussion and am ONLY responding (and once) for those out there to understand how I interpret this since I started the SP Baseball thread.

When we started selling games, it was for the sole purpose to "share" the games with those that would love it as much as I would. I had a hand in everything; the boxes, the manuals, the artwork. Why? Because if it is my way, it is perfect and I would enjoy it the most.

I have received many negative comments over the years. Did I like them? Of course not. I always thought, if one did not like what I am doing, then go do it your way. Why send negativity my way? Constructive criticism is another thing. Not that it ever mattered much for the same reason, I was happy with what I did. People said Super Pro Tennis was hard. Sure, but it was produced the way I wanted it so I was happy. If you do not like what I am doing, do not buy it. I do not release games to make money.

As for banning a person for saying I am lazy. I do not think a person should be banned for that. We all should be able to take criticism.

Eric, perhaps you did not notice the year 2014 on the game's title screen. Yes, I have been sitting on the game for 2 years. Why? Because I quit caring to share. I have much more fun working on games and not having to be concerned with negativity from people.

Why would I not want to sell you a game board? Maybe because I am lazy to ship it? Maybe because I am lazy to sell them? Lazy to get the game programmed on game boards? Why do any of this? I am to lazy

Maybe I should just say screw it all and just go back to playing a game I already have. Maybe it was stupid to even announce it. People do not miss something they know nothing about.

Does this explain how saying someone is lazy is a negative comment?

He didn't get banned for calling you lazy. He got banned for his continuous pattern of toxic behaviour. Even the mods are tired of moderating him.

I just read all of those threads. It's like a live production of The Curious Case of the Dog In The Night-Time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Curious_Incident_of_the_Dog_in_the_Night-Time

"Community" seems to mean something different to Eric than it does to most other people. He should realize aren't his therapist, counselor, social worker, or parole officer. Some people on here have bought Intellivision games from him. Eric should the hint and stick to the contexts that work.

My favorite line from Eric, during one of his complaint sessions was something like:

'It didn't even phase Rev'

At that point I knew he just wanted a rise out of me.

You do realize that a "continuous pattern of toxic behavior" is subjective? Did a mod or two see it that way? Maybe. But that doesn't make it true. Somebody jumped the gun with their assumptions and subjectivity.

Oh, no! There goes my opinion, again! :-o

David, I apologize for the "lazy" comment. I am still following your SP Baseball thread, and I will still support all of your future gaming projects.

I like games that I can play on original hardware. A ROM using intellicart or similar, a cartridge release, hopefully soon, a HIVE and LTO cart. I think the boxes and overlays from some of the releases over the past couple of years have been very impressive and they are pretty. but give me the ROM, in any format and I am a happy camper.

Some people really like the boxes, etc. I suppose it's part of the nostalgia of the hobby, and they look good when displayed, etc. Frankly, I would prefer to not have to spend the extra money but some people who are a big part of this community enjoy designing, and making these things so I pay extra when these things are offered.

A lot of my home brewing friends put there beer in growlers or plain bottles. I like to create nice labels, funny names for the beer perhaps, and I usually buy some sort of decorative bottle caps. Why? I don't know, but it's fun and my daughters and I enjoy it. (I even used special black bottles for my black beery). I don't think my friends do things differently because they are lazy. I think they just enjoy brewing beer and they don't enjoy the other tings the way I do. But, we all enjoy one another's beer

Personally, I find it a little odd to come to this board, about classic games, and talk about much of anything other than classic games. (though of course I just did). When I want ideas or opinions about time shares, I go to tugbbs.com and I go to ramforums.com to get and share thoughts on my truck.

Live and let live.

If you can't say something nice then don't say nothin' at all.

Can't we all just get along.
