bigferret #1 Posted April 28, 2003 Was out with the wife doing our weekly gamestore/thrift hunt when I came across a complete Genesis, 32X and Sega CD package with all cables, etc., two controllers, a Lethal Enforcers lightgun and 15 games. The CD player is the big, original version which sits under the Genesis. Games for CD are: Silpheed Final Fight Sol Feace Ground Zero Joe Montana Football Sonic CD Ecco the Dolphin Mortal Kombat Sega Classics Arcade Lethal Enforcers Sherlock Holmes 32X games are: Virtua Fighter Mortal Kombat II Space Harrier Moto Cross Championship I also picked up a MS. Pacman and Road Rash carts for the Genesis. Total price was $99. Everything works and has a 90-day warranty. So.....is that an OK price? I have no idea what a fair value for this would be, but since it was all in one place, I thought I'd give it a go. Also, what games would you folks recommend for either the CD or 32X? So far it seems like a fun system - I just don't know what else I should be looking for. Another game store in town has some Sega CDs in stock, so I'll probably check those out tomorrow. Gunstar #2 Posted April 28, 2003 You definately want to get Soul Star and Battlecorps for the Sega cd, those are Core design games, and Core is well known for great games and these are no exception, they take great advantage of the cd. For the 32X, I recommend StarWars Arcade, Shadow Squadron, Star Trek:Starfleet Acadamy, Kalobri and T-mek. there are a lot more good games for both, but I don't have them all yet, so I recommend those...32X has a decent version of Doom, but it you have it for any other system short of the SNES version, don't bother, the others are better. snorlaxnut #3 Posted April 28, 2003 For the Sega CD I recommend: Black Hole Assault Bram Stoker's Dracula Dragon's Lair Dungeon Master II: Skullkeep Jurassic Park Rise of the Dragon Stellar Fire
chrisbid #4 Posted April 28, 2003 id recommend a couple of crappy FMV games like night trap or sewer shark for a good laugh oh, and just incase you werent sure, there is no copy protection with the sega cd
Witchfynde #5 Posted April 28, 2003 32X has a decent version of Doom, but it you have it for any other system short of the SNES version, don't bother, the others are better. Yeah, there's no way to save a game on that version, other than that, it's decent. Flashback for the Sega CD, if you don't have a version of that for any other system. And Heart of the Alien has Out of This World and the Heart sequel too, which only came out for that system.
PaulEMoz #6 Posted April 28, 2003 Get Virtua Racing for the 32X. I had that and I used to absolutely love it.
Vic George 2K3 #7 Posted April 28, 2003 I actually enjoyed Sewer Shark, Ground Zero Texas, and Double Switch for the Sega CD, though I probably wouldn't recommend any other FMV-based game (and much less Dragon's Lair, since that version of the game is so unforgiving as far as control goes, whereas the arcade original does give a beep whenever you make the right move at the right time). And given that I didn't like how the Sega CD required the use of another AC adapter to power the thing, and hearing that the Sega 32X did the same, I wisely chose not to pursue getting the Sega 32X and I don't personally regret it. I'd rather have a system that only required one power plug than a multitude of them for every adapter that hooks up to it.
Gabriel #8 Posted April 28, 2003 Sega CD Dark Wizard Shining Force CD Lunar: The Shining Star Robo Aleste (can you believe that I gave away my copy? DOH!) I'd skip on Lunar: Eternal Blue. It's a bit overrated. Skipping it will save you mucho bucks anyway. Otherwise, you already have the must haves (Sonic and Silpheed). 32X Virtua Racing Shadow Squadron Metal Head (but this one is definitely an acquired taste) I'd like to recommend Afterburner, but the control is just a bit too iffy to be enjoyable. Space Harrier is the only other must-have for the system, and you already have it.
