Who is arguing? For the purpose of putting black ink on white cardboard, black is a colour that is fully recognized as a "colour" by the printing industry. Next we will be discussing the proper spelling of colour

I'm going to stick with what my kindergarten art teacher, Mrs. Marche (pronounced Mar-Shay), taught me back in 1980 at the ripe age of five:

 

Black is not a color, damnit!

True black does not exist in print, so any printed black is going to be some tone of a very dark grey, with some amount of an underlying hue as well.

 

This is what I learned in a college class called Color in the early 90s, that is what I am going to stick with
