SIDE2 on stock 800 48k ?

Recommended Posts

Will it work ? A side2 into a stock atari 800 48k ?

What are the other possibilities to run SDX on a Atari 800 ?

I have a MyIDE-2 with my 800XL ultimate 1mb, but I'd like to run SDX on the atari 800 as well.

Thxs

SDX will run on an 800, but without any extended memory the experience is unlikely to be pleasant or productive. Incognito is your best bet, but they are like hen's teeth and no more are being made at the moment, while a stock machine completely prohibits use of the SDX HDD driver for SIDE.

If you have U1MB in the 800XL anyway, it's worth buying a SIDE2 since the two devices are designed to work closely in tandem.

But I like the look and feel of the old atari :)

I managed to mod my Atari 800 with the PHI2 cartridge pin and the MyIDE-2 boots up now. MyBIOS and FatLoader still not working (in fact the fatloader bricked the flash memory and I had to reflash it from sio2sd, take care!).

Anyway I've put an SDX on the MyIDE-II workbook and is working fine from there. I think that's enough.

I've heard the original MYIDE (version 1) has an atari 800 bios and side loader for it.

If you can get an axlon memory card for the 800, the orignal SDX will run fine with a very small lomem. Not sure if the new one will recognize the axlon.
