Summarize an Atari game in 10 words or less

Recommended Posts

For example, Asteroids could be:

"shooting fragmenting rocks and fighting space ships in zero gravity".

And we want real descriptions of the game (i.e. "it sucks" won't work).

Would someone care to summarize Sky Diver, Slot Racers, Adventure, etc.?

I see this as a way to quickly learn what a LOT of Atari games are like without having to read the manuals.

hmm lets try a tough one, fathom

rescue the mermaid as a dolphin and seagull, varied terrain

if stuff like 'the' 'as' and 'a' and 'and' counts, that sure makes it harder :-)

Sky Diver: Dive, parachute and guide through wind to target your landing.

Adventure: Explore a kingdom, battle dragons and return the golden chalice.

Slot Racers: Speed through mazes to batter your opponent with guided missiles.

I have a better idea (so I think)... and I seem to recall it was done before here. Atari Haiku. Describe a game in the familiar structure of 3 lines consisting of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

You run, jump, and climb;

Avoid fire and crocodiles

To get the treasure.

NE1, I think that's an overly complicated explanation. How about this:

Basic Math: basic math

Or how about this...

Fun with Numbers: flagrant false advertising

Sky Diver: Gravity is bad.

Crackpots: Bugs are bad.

(looks at topic explanation again--oops, supposed to be serious)

Sky Diver: A two player challenge to make the perfect landing!

Crackpots: Stop the invading bugs from eating your building! (Sounds like someone was on crack, all right...)

Human Cannonball: No matter what you do, the guy goes SPLAT!

Dodge 'Em: Drive in circles 'til you piss yourself stupid.

Jr. Pac-Man: Gobble dots fast but ghosts gobble you FASTER!

Pitfall: Harry's hairy adventures. WATCH OUT FOR CROCS! Aww krikey!

Space Treat Deluxe: It's real fruity, in a good way.

Donkey Kong: Hey, it beats the hell out of Intellivision!

Demon Attack: Can you make it all the way to wave 84?

Thrust+ DC: ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!

Marble Craze: Twist your wrists 'til the bones go CRACK!

Miniature Golf: My best shot at programming an Atari game. ;)

There - ten games in ten words or less, each!

Rasty.-

About half the library:

"Shoot stuff. Don't get shot."

About half of the remaining library:

"Eat stuff. Don't get eaten."
