The other day I decided to give my Atari 400 computer and Atari 5200 system a go after a while of being sitting without much use but unfortunately, I accidentally swapped the power supplies cords for each system and right after that the Atari 400 Ac adapter didn't worked again (model # CO 14319 ). I then test it with a multimeter and there was no juice coming of out it so I had to crack the brick and sure enough, there is an old glass fuse that is shoot. Does anyone knows what type of fuse is it? (Slow/fast blow) or if there is a good substitute for it? Here some pics below. Rybags Posted July 20, 2016 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Does the case have the output rating printed on it? The fuse would likely be rated slightly above the output Amperage. Those types usually have the rating stamped into one of the ends. The only I have for my 400 says 2 Amps (bigger size wall wart type) but I also found a photo of one rated at 3.4 Amps which seems a bit excessive. Yep, I've read that the CO14319 was shipped with the original 400's, 850's and 1010's. And later 400's came with the 31VA. oryan_dunn Posted February 7, 2017 Share Posted February 7, 2017 I have two C017945 power bricks that both fuses blew (due to the ferrite choke in my 400 coming loose and shorting pins on the circuit board right under where the power enters). I'm looking to add a fuse holder that you can access without opening the power supply, but I'd like to replace the fuse with an exact replacement if possible. I've pulled the fuse out, and taken a picture. Mine is a 5A/250VAC slow blow fuse (made by Littlefuse), but it's interesting as it has a spring in half of it. I've seen this type of fuse described over on stack exchange, but have not seen the name for the type. Does anyone here know the type? I've attached a picture of it. I installed a case mounted fuse holder so a fuse swap will be simple if were to blow again. I used this fuse holder: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/littelfuse-inc/03420858H/F015-ND/17931 And got a couple of these fuses: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/littelfuse-inc/0313005.MXP/F1769-ND/778306 It works quite well. It was a very tight fit with the fuse holder. I'd have liked to have used a push button reset breaker instead, but I don't think there'd have been any way to fit that in the case.
