Thomas Jentzsch #26 Posted July 30, 2016 I keep my fingers crossed that this game gets released eventually (or soon). IMO Anteater provides a pretty unique gameplay idea.
nanochess #27 Posted July 30, 2016 This project would serve me to learn some things I want to know about playfield. Stay tuned
ubersaurus #28 Posted July 31, 2016 Personally I would love to see a Flashback come along with a number of these third-party releases and protos; I know there are a few M-Network unreleased games that don't necessarily have a license!
nanochess #29 Posted September 2, 2016 It looks like I'm bad to measure my available time Almost a mockup, not yet coming to playfield. aard.bin
Ska_music_fan83 #30 Posted October 4, 2016 Nope, we also have a box already, so only 98.99% to be done http://atariage.com/forums/blog/375/entry-7375-anteater-atari-2600/ This isn't related to this topic but I just had to say something because I'm so happy to see Harold the dog from the Mr. Rossi cartoon as your avatar. You just made my day! I used to watch those cartoon movies as a child and I've never met another person who knew who Mr. Rossi was.

moycon #34 Posted October 6, 2016 Always liked this game, used to play it on the Commodore 64 back in the day. Seems to me there was another game with very similar gameplay called Oils Well. Would be fun to check out the Atari 2600 version.
Rom Hunter #35 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) Always liked this game, used to play it on the Commodore 64 back in the day. Mayhem #36 Posted October 6, 2016 Yes, Oil's Well is a clone of Anteater.
+sramirez2008 #37 Posted October 6, 2016 There's a conversion for the 5200 that's excellent. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222047-oils-well-atari-5200/?hl=%20oil
TheRedEye #38 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) I would kill for that NES Return of Donkey Kong rom, as would many other NES fans. At least we eventually got the Super GameBoy version; which according to most sources, was built from the ashes of the NES version. [citation needed] However, important to note, that sometimes even the huge, gigantic corporations can be found giving these old roms away. Capcom shocked the community when they gave away Titan Warriors. They had nothing to do with that. Edited October 7, 2016 by TheRedEye
Andromeda Stardust #39 Posted October 8, 2016 [citation needed] I remember reading that and was like wutt!! Smells of BS with a hint of roses...
nanochess #40 Posted December 3, 2016 Ok, I've been playing today with playfield graphics. I'm too tired to squeeze the enemies bitmaps in the few cycles available, and still missing its color. Once with enemies, the game itself should be a piece of cake, or not... aard.bin

Supergun #42 Posted December 3, 2016 Dude, massive thanks & praise to you for doing this, but why are you tasking yourself with this? This game was already done. We may not have the rom yet, but it's already been done.

nanochess #44 Posted December 3, 2016 Dude, massive thanks & praise to you for doing this, but why are you tasking yourself with this? This game was already done. We may not have the rom yet, but it's already been done. Why? Just because I wanted to write another VCS game. And unreleased is exactly the same as "doesn't exist" That's a rational reason, but maybe I only wanted to exercise again my 6502 abilities and fight against the TIA animal
nanochess #45 Posted December 4, 2016 Today enemies are running after solving TIA timing constraints. Except for indicators now the kernel is complete! I think the tongue movement with joystick will be the next step. aard.bin
Andromeda Stardust #46 Posted December 4, 2016 So one guy has a lost game, sits on it, and another guy recreates it from scratch. Props to nanochess for doing it. This is StarCastle level stuff here. In case anyone forgot, A veteran programmer created a Star Castle game, made a prototype, and then asked $32,000 for his "Proto." There were no takers so he sat on it. Then another programmer high in the community began development of a better Star Castle. The first guy ended up doing a kickstarter to release his game, and the second guy finished his version and released it in the AA store the following year. Both are good but the AA version plays superior, though the first game had flashing lights only available in the KS carts.
alex_79 #47 Posted December 4, 2016 It looks very promising! Are you considering a PAL (or PAL60) version too?You should open a new thread in the Homebrews forum: it would be easier for people to know about the game, and you'll have no editing limitation there, so you can keep the latest version on the first post.
Thomas Jentzsch #48 Posted December 4, 2016 Before nanochess invests too much time, someone better checks the copyrights for this game. Alternatively it could be changed into Oils Well. Or simply renamed.

I was thinking same last night. Pretty easy to replace the aardvark with an oil tower.
