Last week one of the guys asked if people had an ECS to play ECS games. That gave me the idea of this poll. 'Ready to play' means you have the hardware nearby and can be hooked up without too much hassle. Having all the modules hooked up all the time can be a real problem for space but let us know if you do (photos welcome).

I've actually considered selling off my ECS and Music Keyboard ... they only sit on the shelf and take up room at this point. Same with the system changer (I know, blasphemy, but I have an Atari 2600 already).

Currently, that hardware is just there for display purposes.

I see 1 working Blue Whale and 2 non-working Blue Whale. Cmart has voted.

The option "Can play any given Intellivision rom file in emulation without Intellivision controllers" is missing

Yikes! What's the point in that?

I play games like Christmas Carol and Mystic Castle with emulator using the keyboard. And this way is not in the option list.

Don't sell off your ECS just yet, folks. Given the vast improvement in sound possibilities that the extra channels bring (and with IntyBASIC now supporting it), I don't think I'll ever program a homebrew that doesn't take advantage of it in some fashion. And I'm not alone on this one. :D

Yay!! I like the sound of that

I still like my previous suggestion of a game using a Dual Action Controller on the main console and a second DAC on the ECS, so you can get a two player game with some real button/disc action going on.

You can play virtually every intellivision game with a dual analog type controller or computer keyboard, if you take the time to remap the buttons specific to some of these games. I had baseball, b-17 bomber, tron deadly discs working pretty well with dual thumbsticks. Treasure of tarmin would work nicely with buttons mapped to the keyboard (eg. 'o'-open 'l'-ladder). You can easily map a dual action controller, especially if you have the right thumbstick working as eight buttons. One game where I really needed the disc was Auto Racing. Another problem was that I'm use to using my right thumb for direction control but all modern controllers are left-handed.

I played Intellivision Lives on my PC like that for years, but now with the flashback controllers being much better than the original controller, I wouldn't ever want to use the keyboard again. I have those to thank that created the usb adapters. IMO, using a joystick and a keyboard is too much work!

I really wish they'd update Intellivision Lives! for the 3DS with all the available ROMs. I know I'm a blasphemer, and I probably like the memory and idea of Intellivision games more than the reality.

If someone ports a recent mame/mess to nintendo 3ds, it should give you intellivision emulation. The analog control can be usefull too.

Watching a video of intellivision lives nintendo ds I noticed they remapped Vectron disc function to the keypad. That solved the dpad precision limitation. And maybe better than Vectron's original design.
