tonyankyfan1
Hey Guys- How many games did coleco make for the ball-controller module?? Im thinking about getting one, but if only 2 games were made, maybe -its a waste of money, i feel. Thanks Anthony
VectorGamer
Slither But it can be used for other games like Centipede
Inky
I thought Victory was programmed for it too.The controller does have a Roller / Joystick switch, IIRC, so it can be used for almost any game, it just operates differently.

Inky
You're right. But nobody ever plays that crappy game IIRC, Victory was a rotary controller game inthe arcade, and reviews of Victory for the CV way back in the Ferg all panned the game for the horrible choice of controller. Here's info from KLOV http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10306 Controls: Rotary: Optical Buttons: 4 [Thrust|Doomsday Device|Fire|Shield] So 4 buttons on the arcade game and only 2 on the CV making it a watered down version (unless there are buttons on the keypad that you're supposed to use but who reads manuals?) I have never seen Victory BITD or in the arcades today
Inky
I wonder if it used all four of the fire buttons on the rotary controlloer. Don't forget that said control device had a set of the two fire buttons for each controller. That would have benn a pretty awkward setup, however. ed1475
The US version of Victory had a bug which prevented the quarks, paratroopers, and scouts from being in the game. The CBS version corrected the bug and is much better and more challenging. The US version is super easy because your only fighting half of the types of enemies that should be in the game. NIAD
Slither and Victory were the two games made exclusively for use with the Roller Controller (trakball), but by sliding the switch on the R.C. from "Roller" to "Joystick", you can use the Trakball with any ColecoVision game to varying degrees of success. The games that work best in "Joystick" mode are Centipede, WarGames and War Room, but there are probably others that I have not tried. The owner's manuals for all these games are available in PDF and even text file format, so before stating something that you are not sure of... RTTF. BTW, NewColeco hacked most of the games that require a special controller on the CV to work with the standard hand controller and you can easily find the FREE ROM FILES by looking around. I just searched Aurcade and there is only one location with a Victory but that "place" has closed http://aurcade.com/games/view.aspx?id=2870

Ikrananka
The full list of Original 1982 to 1985 releases that could be played with the Roller Controller are: Centipede Omega Race Slither Victory WarGames Similarly for Homebrew games: Armageddon Deflektor Kollection / Double Breakout MindWalls

It's actually pretty fun with the roller controller.
tonyankyfan1
Oh wow, thanks guys so much for all of your awesome input!!! =) I think, I will buy the roller controller, just to have it. =)
Vectorman
Decathalon is unplayable without the roller controller IMO. Having to jerk the joystick L-R 2,500 x per minute not only is no fun, it kills your hand and destroys CV joysticks. Is there a way to use the Atari computer trakball with CV? The Atari trakball controller is much nicer and solid feeling and has a larger, arcade sized ball. NIAD
For Decathon, the Track'n Field controller works greats.
