It allows you to use many PC controllers like the MakoPad PC Controller. Lots more info in Episode 1 coming soon. I just saw this for the first time. I sent a MakoPad to Goodwill a few years ago. I remember thinking it was a very comfortable gamepad. Too bad I didn't realize the potential!

They are actually not that expensive, maybe around $20 plus shipping on eBay for a PC MAKO Controller.

David Alexander
Hey @Albert lets hope @DrVenkman and friend sell a ton of these controllers so that there will be a higher demand for Atari 5200 Homebrew games. Lots of gratitude to @smbaker for coming up with the original PCB Design. Edited November 8, 2019 by David Alexander

David Alexander
I should make sure to give credit where credit is due... smbaker on Atari Age designed and produces the unpopulated PCB boards for electronic enthusiasts to build their own controllers. But for those like me that cant do that there is a website where you can buy pre-built controllers. The website is open. Get that controller for the 5200 that you always wish you had....https://www.maker-matrix.com/category/retro-gaming
AtariBrian
Bought two of them yesterday. Can't wait to try them out!! I just got to thinking, if you bought a left stick and a right stick controller you could probably play Space Dungeon and Robotron with them.

David Alexander
The original controller with the gold rebuild kit is still the best for these analog type games like Missile Command, Star Raiders, etc., Still a great controller for games that the self centering doesn't interfere with game play. Of course as you mentioned the trak ball cannot be beat for analog games. Edited November 22, 2019 by David Alexander
