So the workaround here is to use the Console5 cable plugged into the 5200, with a modern DB15 cable plugged into the Console5 cable and then secured to the controller with the screw terminals. You end up with a very long cable but it works perfectly."
David Alexander
The episode is in the can. We had to fight through cold's, congestion and technical issues but at least Ballblazer & Rescue on Fractalus is recorded. Now on to editing :).
David Alexander
I know the SmBaker Analog controller is very popular and that's great but for me I actually like using my modded Jaguar controller to play my 5200 Digital Control games. And on top of that I like that I can do custom 5200 overlays to fit my Jaguar controller. For most analog games I either use my Gold Rebuilt 5200 Controller, Trackball or my 5200 paddles. In the end no matter what controller you use whats important is that it works for you and you play the 5200

David actually gifted one of these to me right around my Birthday These Sega controllers are not the brittle plastic crap ones either. Pretty good quality for $4 shipped.
ave1
Here's my take on the Ikonsgr 5200 controller adapter: This really is the new Masterplay Clone for the roaring 20's. 2

You once used a a mad catz flight stick for PSX on the 5200 that had “pulse” movement = a digital stick that moved faster as you move the stick farther. Have you ever seen any other controller that had that variable speed digital?
David Alexander
Episode 10 will be up shortly. We had a major issue with my recording settings so most of my dialog was not recorded. But Capt. Bob, Pete and Steve came through fine.

David Alexander
The Atari 5200 Podcast : Episode 10: Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus. https://theatari5200superpodcast.libsyn.com/episode-10-ballblazer-and-rescue-on-fractalus On this episode of The Atari 5200 Podcast... Fatigue from the holidays and cold and flu season can’t stop the crew of this podcast! But it came pretty close. This episode we cover the two games that were created by Lucasfilm Games, Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus. Steve and Capt. Bob compare sniffles, Pete’s inner game geek is let loose upon the world, Glen is off doing other amazing stuff, and David tests out his new recording equipment. Which is why about 10 minutes into the episode he mysteriously disappears. Which strangely works out. Because these are two games that we can talk about all day, but they must be played and experienced to be truly appreciated. And for the first time, Show Notes! +Ryan Witmer
Just got done listening to this, a fun listen as always. One thing I swear I read in the Ballblazer manual, and I don't think you guys mentioned this, is that the awesome music is also part of the universe. There's something about how the music plays in the arena and every champion gets to add a new section to the music. I really need to take another crack at Rescue at Fractalus. Maybe I'll dig it out this weekend.
