INTEREST CHECK: A new batch of Pacman for Channel F?

Hello,

I´ve been talking to the author of the amazing Pacman for Channel F. As some of you might know he made a limited run of 50 carts a long time ago and since then he´s devoted to multicarts.

He said he would be willing to make a LIMITED SECOND RUN of about 15 carts. But he´d only commit to it if we gather enough interested people. We need AT LEAST TEN PEOPLE!

According to him a boxed game with high-quality printed paperwork would cost something between 70 and 120 USD. He will check final costs if we manage to grab an audience.

Anyone else in? I´m pretty interested but we need more people in this party. :)

Come on, Channel F collectors. That´s a rare opportunity! ;)

Here's an ongoing interest list:

1. Lazzeri

2. Atari_Bill

3. Tombstone

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

9.

10.

11.

12.

14.

15.

I have begged him for 1 in the past! :)

Only channel f item I don't have besides demo 2.

I am definitely down for 1, probably 2 if its needed to get the count for him to make them and price is closer to 70.

Awesome news on this!

Just wondering, if he could design a box and sticker that matches the design of Saba boxes? :-D

Hmm... sure I guess it's just a matter how much it's worth? I can get color test prints for one box and one set of labels for maybe $50 or so, getting the colors right might take a second print. Printing those yourself on photopaper would look quite wrong compared to the originals.

If you can get 10 people interested in buying a SABA-version I can make it happen, i haven't sold much in Germany, so that could be fun.

Hah, nice. I'm not in Germany but I'm going to assume that most European collectors will be more than likely to have Saba games rather than US Channel F style games.

I'll leave it up to others on this thread to know if they are up to get a Saba design or stick to the US one.

It's I'm the lonely wolf on this, I'll get a regular one, I don't wanna add you more work on this new batch.

FWIW, the Luxor games here in Sweden had the same look as the Channel F games, right e5frog?

Hey Carlsson! Nice to see you here.

The software is exactly the same in Luxor carts, labels vary as can bee seen here:

http://channelf.se/gallery/index.html

Lazzeri - you should get two and the list is full, just sell it on eBay for double the money later on. ;-)

Yeah, I´d love to. But import fees down here in Brazil are a whopping 100%. (Seriously. 60% federal and 38% state taxes, shipment included.) :(

So even if I sell for double the money I´ll make nothing. Pathetic.

I still hope someone else will join this wagon. Or someone in USA would take the second one and sell later for a profit. That might work too.

I'd be more interested in repros of rarer original release videocarts like Video Whizball, Checkers, and Slot Machine, actually. Can't find those even loose for less than a hundred bucks these days. :/

Seconded! This is something I'd also be up for, even though I have a full original set. Checkers is the real bitch of the 26 to find in any shape, let alone complete.

Come to think of it, there's a few other Channel F things that could be done nowadays that us Channel F collectors would be game to have a buy-in for:

  1. Illustrated style boxes for #25: Casino Poker and #26: Alien Invasion
  2. US style illustrated box for the unique SABA #20: Chess
  3. Illustrated box (and repro cart?) for Democart 2
  4. Manual for Democart 1 (cuz why not, ya know)
  5. Set of 24 white boxes with end-labels for the full set (besides 25 and 26), or just for the handful of early titles that don't seem to have had a white box release.

It would be quite possible to do repro carts and boxes, not sure about the cost, hardware would be pretty much the same as a Pac-Man cart but the labels and box(es) would require a lot of work scanning, clean up and test prints to check color.

Inventing new boxes... not as appealing even though it would be nice to make something for the last two.

Don't know what a Democart manual would say... shortest of them all.
