Retro STrife #1 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) Hey guys. Looking to buy a copy of the first Oregon Trail game, to play on an Apple IIe. 5.25" floppy. Thanks. Edited August 8, 2016 by Retro STrife
Keatah #2 Posted August 8, 2016 Just download it from ftp asimov and make a disk. No need to pay $100+ ebay prices, unless that's something you want to do?
dafivehole #3 Posted August 10, 2016 How might one go about doing that?

Retro STrife #5 Posted August 10, 2016 This thread belongs in the wanted section Good point. Sorry about that; my mistake, I didn't see the subforum section before posting. If a mod can move it, please feel free.
CGQuarterly #6 Posted August 11, 2016 How might one go about doing that? Using a program called "ADT", which stands for "Apple Disk Transfer". You can connect your Apple II to your PC or Mac, and transfer disk images across the cable, where the Apple II will write them to a physical disk. Indispensable tool for Apple II enthusiasts. Is that where you connect the Apple and the PC with a null modem cable? Thank you

Keatah #10 Posted August 11, 2016 Once you get going and understand what you're doing, it takes a remarkable 30-seconds to make a disk! And the author of ADT is pretty helpful should you have any difficulties. ADT is well developed and has been around god knows how many years. I personally prefer it to the existing flash memory solutions because it's so old school!
Retro STrife #11 Posted August 11, 2016 What cable do we need for the PC-to-Apple II connection? Is it something I can find on Amazon or just on the specialized webstores?
Keatah #12 Posted August 11, 2016 http://adtpro.sourceforge.net This describes what you need. And they can be purchased at Amazon, ebay, or you can make it yourself.
Asaki #13 Posted August 16, 2016 I just use audio cables...it probably takes longer that way, but I don't have a serial card.
Retro STrife #14 Posted August 18, 2016 Bump. I've been unable to do the ADT method yet. If anyone is able to make a copy of Oregon Trail, please PM me. I would gladly paypal you for your time and disk. Much appreciated. I'm just not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers in general, especially classic computers. Asaki #15 Posted August 19, 2016 Your Apple should have audio jacks, this tutorial is super easy: http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/connectionsaudio.html http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/bootstrapaudio.html Plus, once you've got this setup, there's another website out there that has a tone of tape files, so you can play some older games like Midnight Magic and Choplifter. I can't get Choplifter to work, though. I think it might require a joystick?
