The greatest, and perhaps most brief, intro tune ever!

Recommended Posts

You are going to think this is insane, but I think THE greatest little intro tune to any video game ever has got to be the opening 10 second tune to

BERSERK

for Vectrex.

That thing just grows in your brain like some sort of .....um .....um

But really, listen to the very last final little note at the end of that intro...it has that really awesome distorted frequency.

Does anyone agree with me? I don't have a real Vectrex, does Berserk sound like that on the real thing too? I have it emulated on Mess.

Was there a C64 version?

I can recall the VIC-20 version but not the C64.

Man what a sweet game. Too bad it never came to an Atari console.

Oh yeah, I had to think about what you meant for a second there, I was about to go fire it up since it didn't come to me for a while there...

Probably...I don't have the emulator, but I heard all of the Vectrex games were emulated to "near perfection". I'll see about recording it with a hand-held recorder I have and e-mailing it to you later to try to compare, although the sound quality won't be that great.

Tunnels of Doom.  TI 99/4A.  'Nuff said.   :D

!!!!!!!!!!!

Years and years ago, I played a game on the TI and I had been trying to remember the name. After seeing your post, a little light went off in my head and I did a Google search for some screenshots of Tunnels of Doom.

It turns out that ToD was the game I remembered playing. My mind had embellished it a bit, but that is almost certainly the game.

Tonight when I have more time I need to find a TI-99 emulator and a rom and take a trip down memory lane with that one.

Actually, I think the music that opens 7800 Xevious takes the cake for "greatest brief intro music" for a game.

Blasto for the TI plays a mean rendition of When Johnny Comes Marching Home that gets stuck in my head for weeks at a time.

If we're talking short, little music clips, then mine is definitely the little interlude music at the end of each level of Bionic Commando. So happily military.

The 4 "phone tones" that kick off another exciting game of 2600 Pac-Man!!!

Also, tho not an intro tune, 2600 Vanguard invincibility music.

lol

i was at my friends house earlier today, and we were playing around with older PSX games just for a laugh, and if you remember Ridge Racer loaded completely into RAM, and allowed you to play a Music CD while racing. So we popped in Daytona for the Saturn since it had Rebook Audio and was listening to that while playing RR. kindof funny, but a tad more on the geeky side i suppose...
