Paradroyd
Sorry if this info is readily available and I've just missed it, but I couldn't find it specifically addressed. Does anyone know if the FlashROM99 work on a V2.2 console? Thanks in advance.
+Ksarul
A V2.2 console completely ignores ROM headers, so the FlashROM99 will not work with it out of the box. Your only options there are to attach a Navarone GROM Buster (or the CorComp device with the same function) to the side port. That short-circuits the TI startup process and reads the ROM headers by executing some startup code from the >4000 space to override the console's limitations. Note that both of the GROM Buster devices are really hard to find. . .and more expensive than a complete console when you do find them, so it is actually easier to just buy a console without the V2.2 GROMs in it.

sometimes99er
I guess you can replace GROM 0 !? You could get one from a cheap scrap metal spare part TI-99/4A.
+Ksarul
That comes under the category of buying another 99/4A to resolve the problem--but you are right, the only part he really needs is a replacement GROM 0, so even a defective machine will get him where he needs to be as it will give him the part that needs to be swapped out (and GROMs rarely go bad, so they are likely to be good, even in a bad machine).
